One thing I love about Landry is he's one of those guys who goes strong to the basket with no second thought. Although he's not in their league, he's got the same mindset as guys like Barkley, Amare and Howard -- if he grabs the ball anywhere near the hoop, he takes it there automatically and with authority. No thinking first, no half-assed looking for a better shot, no trying to create more space -- just put the rock in the hole. The Rockets have needed a guy like that for a while.
Some of us had heard of him and supported the pick right away. But then again I grew up in West Lafayette, went to a high school on Purdue's campus a block from Mackey Arena and my house was in between. I've been a Rockets fan since I was 11 (1996) and a Purdue fan all my life, drafting Carl Landry was a dream.
