Badiane is leading the tournament in rebounds per 40 minutes, at least 20 minutes played ... 15.4 reb/40, including a ridiculous 9.2 oreb/40.

Probably so, but we having a gaping hole in our frontcourt, with few prospects. Barring a miracle trade/signing, I say bring him for a look at training camp.

Considering the crappy players that have riddin' this bench the past couple of years, why wouldn't you invite him...I understand the 2 year time limit will make him wait another year, but why not now...

Not getting minutes in the middle of the game. Apparently, the coach doesnt trust him in a close game. When in, not impressive. First time Ive ever seen him play.

th eonly thing intersting about that guy is

that he has 18 brothers and sisters and an amazing wingspan of 2,22m.

Okay, feel the need to update in game with Italy.
He is in there at crunch time as Senegal is trying to hang on for the upset.
He's 6'11, and 22 years old. Long arms. Solid upper body. Saw an Italian hit him solid in the chest and he dint budge. But has skinny legs and gets moved out of position easily. He moves very well for someone his size. Gets us and down the floor well. Moves fluidly. When he does go for a rebound, he jumps and reaches in an extremely quick, all-in-one motion -- probably the most noticeable thing about his play. He got to a couple of balls over the back before the Italian ever left the floor. Problem though is he did not hold onto it. Also saw him hit a couple of free throws. Finshed with 4 pts. Not a much of a factor on offense. Looks like he needs alot of coaching. Thats about it. Only saw him play ~ 10 minutes total.

WOW. What is your basis to make a statement like that? Do you honestly think he would be playing at the WC's if he couldn't play at all?

Yes, I know its Senegal, and I know its not the NBA, but from what I've read from the players playing in the WC, and they'll tell you playing on this stage means more to them than playing in the Olympics. I think its unfair to say that he'll never be an NBA player. He's improving. He's working hard on the things that Coop, D Linsday, and CD want him too. He's still very young.

Don't give up on him yet. There will always be a bench spot on a lotta teams in the L for guys with a motor like his.

I'm from Germany. He can't even get consistent minutes or be a significant contributor here.

Badiane's favorite player is KG, but he patterns his game & attitude on Ben Wallace.

If he can be a 6'11 Ben Wallace type ....

If he can be a 6-11 ben wallace type he wouldn't be the non-entity he is today and will be tomorrow.

I couldn't think of a less apt comparison for Badiane than Ben Wallace.

Of course by age 22 he was already on an NBA roster, playing in actual NBA games, not saying "I think I can try out training camp by now!!!!"

And if the guy continues to put up rb numbers at the WC's comparable to what Lucas & Novak did in their roles in the summer league, then of course we should not even consider bringing him in and investing in a min contract and some time in Austin.....

    (sarcasm on)
WAY TOO RISKY! MATT MALONEY ALL OVER AGAIN! BESIDES THE ROCKETS ARE BEING INUNDATED BY TALENTED BIG MEN WHO WANT TO PLAY FOR THEM FOR SMALL MONEY. (sarcasm off)

If we get desperate at center for 10-15 minutes we can play Rybo there.

After the last coupla years of recycled 36 year old Knicks who can't dribble pass or shoot anymore, and the Rockets not able to compete for Free agents or trades, I think it is really about time to try some of these younger guys and see if they can't do a little better than a JHo with an on court/off plus/minus of -9.0

I keep coming up against what in tarnation do we have to lose by bringing Bad in at the 15th spot and sticking him in Austin?

Novak, Lucas, Head, Azubuike, Hayes, Snyder, and possibly Badman. I have some hope this year. It may turn sour but not because aged Barry and Anderson are sitting in the hottub soaking their injuries all season.

Wow, you've gotta have a nose for being first to things like rebounds and bathrooms with that kind of family!! :)

I don't like the fact that the he's coming off the bench for Senegal ... Surely if you can't start for Senegal - where I have a sponsor child - you are way off doing anything in the NBA.

Rybo wouldn't even come off the bench for Senegal. He can't shoot, he can't dribble, he can't rebound. He can only hustle. The NBA is different from the intl games, there's need for specialty players. That doesn't justify Rybo taking up a roster spot, he's just not special in anyway.
