One, my girlfriend. I'm convinced that making her happy is the reason I was put on Earth.

Two, accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior. I never would have believed that possible. Not 10 years ago, not five, not even one. It's had an unbelievably profound impact on my life.

I guess I'll see you when we're ashes again

I'm with Behad: parenting eclipses everything else. I have 3 and a 4th on the way.

My oldest son is 17 and is a fine student and starts for both the soccer team and the recently crowned state champion lacrosse team.

My oldest daughter is 15 and is one of the kindest and most thoughtful kids you could ever meet. She's had a nagging health problem her whole life with congenital heart defects; she just found out that a necessary fourth heart surgery in the next couple of years will disallow her getting scuba diving certification. The battles she has fought with her health have given her awesome character and empathy for people. She is one of my heroes.

These older two have also had to survive the divorce of their mother and me.

I also have an 18 MO daughter who is a sheer joy except when she wakes in the middle of the night. She has just learned the word "eat." When she hears it, she makes a beeline for the table.

And we have another one due in October. She will have her own specialness as do all children.

Dean, if your whole life has been an apex, wouldn't it look something like this:

People who run marathons make me feel like a lazy slob [IMG].

Like, running 3 miles is a tribulation for me... 25 seems beyond belief.

    *bows in awe*

This spring, a friend ran the boston marathon. It was his first time, so it was important to him that we watch him at heart break hill. We went, but the twirp ran so well that we were late! The guy beat his fastest practice time by like 20 mins.

Once I met this guy who looked exactly like Dick Cheny. That was pretty cool.

Ever since I started work, each day has been worse thanthe one before it. So on any given day that you run into me, that is the worst day of my life.

    Seeing Charles Barkley at Chili's.

No, just kidding, although that was pretty cool.

Trying to think of these things makes me realize what an achievement-oriented person I am, because I keep thinking of things that I'm proud of, and sadly, most of the truly significant accomplishments were back in high school.

I hear about people whose high points in their life were something like a great performance in a game in a high school sport, and I find that kind of sad. Hope that doesn't happen to me.

My views toward kids has changed drastically over the past few years. Before, I would see a baby and wonder, "what's all the fuss?" Now, I see a two-year-old girl and I tell my girlfriend, "I want one of those!"
