were you thinking of getting the OPPO dvd player for upscaling? There was some comparison and they said it was about equal.

i'd get the toshiba. the upscaling dvd thing is actually overrated.
if you can have an option to get a high def format plus upscaling I'd do that.

I'd even recommend you to get blu-ray over a regular upscale player.

go watch planet earth hddvd or bluray and tell me what your choice is.

I thought the same thing, but then I remembered that I'm getting them free with something I wanted anyway.

Best way to look at it, it's free and considering those titles retail $24.99 in stores I would take them no questions asked

Oh I know it would be better, as I said I just didn't want to spend the money (which up until now was pretty pricey) on a player when I didn't even know what would happen between the two formats.

But yeah, the upscaling player was just a stop gap initially till then.

Worst Buy has the A3 for $199.99. The player comes with 300 and The Bourne Identity. Plus Worst Buy lets you pick an additional 3 movies(from the ones priced $34.99 and lower) for free. Not to mention any HD-DVD player you purchase comes with a mail-in rebate for 5 free movies.

That's basically 200 bucks worth of free movies you get with a $200 HD-DVD player.
