If you're breaking the law and you get a ticket, you have only yourself to blame. I get what you're saying, if they allow this, then what's to stop them from doing A, B and C. But again, don't run a red light...don't speed...don't park 5ft away from the curb...don't run through a stop sign...follow the traffic laws and you should be fine right? Sure we can't always be perfect drivers all the time, but I highly doubt it would ever get to the point where cameras are everywhere. That's a little exaggerated. I dunno is this not a logical step forward for law enforcement? Using technology to issue minor citations like this so you don't waste manpower?
When the city doesn't respect the will of the citizens, IT'S TIME....for a little civil disobedience. We need to get some rednecks with paint guns, people with EMP devices, and laser rifles to start breaking the cameras. By the way, the logical next step after red light cameras is more cameras - like they have in London, Chicago, and NY City. They'll keep us safer, it's for our own good! The shackles of tyranny are being forged, and anybody who doesn't see it has way too much trust in the government and not enough knowledge of history.
I am always reminded of the scene from this movie when he is walking on the street and the advertisements scan his eyes then start calling him by name <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/oBaiKsYUdvg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This seriously may not be as far off as we would like to think This same cameras will be used to hunt and harass folx too. Rocket River I know I know .. it is a fiction movie. .
It's already been past 30 days since the Parker ordinance was passed. So did ATF go to appeal this in a federal court post-referendum?
Back to the lights though. Just to be fair to the public, it really should be noted what constitutes as a violation. Part of why driving is so bad all around is due to the fact that people get comfortable and loses track of what's legal and not. I'll admit that I've gotten one of those violations, on a right turn on red of all things. Treat them as stop signs completely. They showed a video of my car slowed down to what I thought was stopped, but I guess I tried to turn before all the cars coming from my left gets the green light. What gets me the most was how the .avi file showed a timeclock of each mini-second that went by on the bottom right corner of the video, and then the timer gets smudged out about a second before i "slowed down and made the turn...." That just seemed a little weird to me if anything.
That was before the cameras were up. Now it means "Hurry the f' up or you'll get a ticket for going on red."
Holy crap. I saw that movie in the theater when I was a little kid and haven't thought about it since then.
pretty much this. there have been a handful of occasions where the light turned yellow when i was only a few feet from the intersection. being aware that there is a red light camera, i would zip through the intersection because i feared getting a ticket. those yellow lights stay yellow for no longer than 2 seconds.
City Council votes to turn them back off Still shocked someone was dumb enough to make such a stupid contract with a company like ATS.
When I learned that the guy who repped ATS in the deal was George "I can buy a city council seat" Hittner, I knew some shady dealings had gone down.
