I dont think there are any hidden methods... he is just a below average coach and I'm not sure he knows what he is doing half the time...

for the whole season, we are playing harden parsons extended minutes while benching lin and asik because we just trying to WIN... I get that no problem...

Now, during our most important stretch of our season, we benched lin and asik because we trying to develop our youngsters....

    I mean talk about inconsistent...

can't we do this at the start of the season when everyone still has low expectations on the rockets?

I actually kind of agree with OP. One thing that I notice about Bev is he doesn't always defer to Harden when Harden demands the ball. The same can't be said for Lin. I have yet to see a time when Harden asked the ball and Lin didn't give it up to him. So when Harden's ISO ball mode is killing the team, Mchale would yank Lin for Bev.

I don't know whether Mchale has been trying to send Lin a message to control his men. If he were, his message would never come through. The cost of not giving the ball up far outweighs the benefit. If he didn't give the ball up and the team lost the game, fans would hate him; Harden would be displeased; and media would scrutinize his relationship with Harden. Even if the team won, he couldn't avoid Harden's displease and the media's scrutiny. Being the dumbest smart guy, Lin will always give the ball up to Harden. If Mchale thought yanking Lin would send Lin a message to put ISO Harden under control, he would be dead wrong. The message would never come through.

Lastly, OP says he saw genuine affection between Lin and Mchale. Here is perhaps a little proof.

as long as mchale makes everyone equally accountable, I have no beef with him. You have to them have it no matter who they are. no star treatment. and he did that. it took him longer than expected considering he always made us aware of the sticky ickyness/

    Watch McFail's post game interview
    Zero credit to Lin
He's specifically asked about Lin and completely ignores the question
Lin put up 19 points 11 assists in only 3 quarters

McFail is a straight up hater

He's like Vinny Del Negro, a bad coach underperforming a very talented team
