    manny,

i was laid off in january... i'm SOOOO bored... but, i just bought all 3 seasons of "The Sopranos" on DVD, that should figure to be over 40 hours of time to waste! :D

yeah, the parents are concerned, but i'm not as worried as they are yet!

Ummm, maybe if you are worried about not being able to afford your apartment you should lay off spending money on DVD's and stop being bored and get out and find a job!

Strange, I just had the image of that anti-pot commercial where the mom asks the 30+ year old guy if he found a job yet, but the guy makes excuses while taking a big hit from the doobie.

    ;)

I just had the image of drapg being like that guy on those Holiday Inn commercials who lives with his parents. He always has these schemes to do things that he wants without putting any effort, it seems, and of course his mother always delivers the punchline, "What does this look like....a Holiday Inn?" :D

Except maybe drapg's mother will say something like "what does this look like... the clutch city BBS??":p

I had to change my apartment twice last year, which meant three whole cycles of packing up, loading my car, unloading my car, and organizing everything - once when I first moved up from Orlando to Tallahassee, again when I changed apartments only 2 weeks later, and one more time when I changed apartments about 6 months later.

After having done it three times over the past year, I must say that you quickly grow accustomed to it with repetition - though it's never fun to have to load your car over and over again with all sorts of things. Moving does allow you to see how much junk you've accumulated over time, though!

    I hate moving.

I also hate painting houses, walls and ceilings.

hey come on now! lay off! :D

i've sent my resume out to at least 700 different companies in the past 8 months, had interviews, but no one wants to hire me!

I'm 2 years out of college and am stuck in the middle ground. I don't have the prerequisite 5 years experience that lots of companies want and I'm not a fresh out that the rest of the companies want. I can't catch a break!

Plus it doesn't help that a lot of my former coworkers haven't found jobs either, and they're all older and more experienced than me!

as for the DVDs... when you're stuck at home all day with nothing to do for 8 months, than you can tell me how to spend money... the fact that i don't EVER really go out and save every penny allows me the pleasure to treat myself to something every now and then... plus, when I can buy the sopranos DVDs for $30.00 each, I will do so without hesitation! :D

if you need a mental picture guys, well erase those!
instead, imagine a 24 year old single guy who wakes up at 5 am every morning, runs 10 miles from 6-7:30am while listening to AM Sports radio, than spends the rest of the day playing Madden 2002 on his PS2, watching movies from his huge collection of DVDs, watching ESPN classic, surfing every sports web site, posting on cc.net every 10 minutes  , writing sports articles for his website, and basically sitting on his butt all day either on his couch or in front of the computer! :D

its now 8:30, the running is finished, and the Madden shall commence!

(by the way, I apologize to RM95 for getting this thread way off topic! :( )

No problem, man. Hope you find a job soon!!

Packing still sucks though, but I did steal the big dollie from the apartment complex this morning, so the moving part may not be as bad!

i've always by myself (with friends)... but i remember moving out of my first apartment after my sophomore year of college. Unfortunately all of my friends had already left Austin for the summer and I was all alone (even my roommate was gone!)... I ended up moving all of my furniture from a 3rd floor apartment, into a u-haul, and driving it to a storage complex and unloading it... all by myself... imagine one guy moving a HUGE couch down 3 flights of stairs by himself!!!! Sure I was kinda big back then (6'1" 200lbs)... but still! plus, there was a desk, love seat, chest of drawers, entertainment center, bed, etc.

needless to say, after i graduated college I hired a moving company and was never happier!

Yeah, I've hired a couple of guys to load the truck for me. My dad and I are just going to take care of the boxes and lighter furniture. Of course, at about 11:30 tonight, we'll be moving it in to my new place ourselves.

drapg, next time I'm in Austin, you gotta come join us at a Rockets/Longhorns/or Texans outing.

No doubt, we have to meet sometimes. I'd prefer not to go an entire season without seeing you guys a few times, Drewdog, Major, Pimp, DaDakota, RM95 (when he is in town) all you guys and anyone else.

OldManBernie, I going to the Longhorn game.

My in-laws were holding my wife's piano for her for all these years, till 2 years ago when we bought our new house. We decided it was time to move the piano in.

I swear on my life I will never move that damn thing again! It's huge, heavy, AND delicate. Piano moving sucks!

    As in Parton?

    Sorry  :)

I was sorry to hear about your move, RM95. I only made one event last year, but I felt like I'd be stranding my wife at home with a new infant. She ain't so new anymore, so I was looking forward to seeing you again at some games this year. (BTW, if any of the Rockets games are HiDef, I'm going to try to arrange for a game at my home; maybe one will be on a weekend...lot'sa ifs)

Anyway, I'm sure that ya'll will enjoy Dallas. My wife misses it quite a bit.

Oh, and you hate moving? We moved most of our stuff from California 2 1/2 years ago to our home in Austin, but some went to Huntington Beach since my wife's job was still there (ever try moving part of your stuff to one place and the other part to another?). About 9 months later, we again moved some stuff back to Austin, while some stuff still stayed in Ca storage (amazing how the junk seemed to expand and grow) so my wife could return after maternity leave. My wife went back for 4 months, and we finally moved (again!) the remainder of our junk to Austin. Fun fun fun.
