If RT and CD go eat with Ming in China it's going to be Tony Roma's as that's Mings favorite place to eat. It surprised me to know that Tony Roma's is in China. I bet that's where he'll be in Houston too!

Welcome Zero! Nice to know more people in China in this BBS! You write very well and I understand you perfectly.

Jeff, I know you have the best of intentions. I was puzzled by your post, but I hope that still came across in my post. Your being thrilled with the influx of visitors from different parts of the world has been quite evident, and I share your enthusiasm.

zero, I've noticed the resistance Chinese public opinion put up to the salary restrictions. However, public opinion in China, while relevant, doesn't seem to have quite the impact there than it does here. Hypothetically, if, IF the CBA reserved the right to recall Yao at any time while he plays in the NBA, do you think they'd do it if the Rockets were in the playoffs? Some fans point to Wang, but I have a tough time buying that because Wang is not a critical part of the Dallas rotation. Yao would be the starting center.

This is a critical fear of many fans on this BBS. I'm really skeptical the CBA would do that.

I read in an espn article, I think, that the chance that Ming would be forced to go home while he was playing in the NBA season would be extremely rare. I think this is just China's way of being careful not to loose Ming under the rares circumstances. I highly doubt this would happen. As with Wang he is not just a citizen of China but also Red Army which is a lifetime job where he has more duties to the China gov't. This is just my opinion though.

Take it easy, I am sure that China BasketBall Assiocitioan will not call Yao back when Rocket on playoff.
But we are angry that why CBA want Yao 50% salay???It's damn unfair. I perfer Yao dont be back china again.

    Zero, welcome to the board!

Damn, now we have to draft Ming (not a bad thing!) This BBS is even cooler than before.

Yep, we all need to save up for a trip to Shanghai next year.

Imagine if...er, when we draft Ming...what this board will be like!

Clutch, I hope the server will be able to handle the load.

Welcome zero, hope you enjoy your time here at the best fan site period! Dont worry about being understood, your doin fine.:)

Can you possibly elaborate on whether or not Ming's obligations to his team over there will affect the amount of time he needs to spend here? I think we should draft him as long as there are not too many restrictions.

Thanks to you and the other new Chinese posters that have been showing up around here. We appreciate you sharing any info you might have.

OK, I think Yao Ming and Wang Zhi Zhi and other chinese players have the same obligations: that is play for CHINA Country. It means that they have to take part in the National Games. For example: Olympics Games, Asia Games...etc.

zero, did you know the NBA has a branch office in Shanghai run by the GM of the Sharks, at least they have the same name. It is called the "Shanghai Oriental Basketball Club."

<a href="http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/200103/07/eng20010307_64350.html">People's Daily: NBA to Open Branch in China </a>

This office has been in place for over a year. "NBA officials went there for the purpose of extending NBA's business to China." Through business offices like this, do you think the NBA can get the Asian Games to be played in the NBA off-season.

We have a rule in the NBA that all players must sign contracts to play every game and attend camp. The Dallas Mavericks waived that right to sign Wang. We will probably not waive that right on a #1 pick like Yao. Do you think the National Team will fight this?

Zero just provided us with the number one reason that the Rockets should draft Ming. It is because of the great new fans like him that we will gain. I will personally be very happy to welcome a whole new contingent of Rockets fans into the fold.

Of course, he's also a very good prospect, which is the number two reason... ;)

Welcome, zero... Hope you are a Rocket fan for many years to come. And, I like your Hakeem Olajuwon reference. I am sure that Yao would love to say he is following in Hakeem's shoes, and I know that he would do his best to live up to it.
