I think its a cultural deal . I don't think kids in the america playing aau or summer league grow up dreaming about the gold medal, they dream about the nba. So its not surprising when international guys cherish the olympic experience more.

Damn right it's fine for Yao to log in those minutes in the NBA season. The Rockets are paying him like $14 million. They will play him for the minutes as they see fit. They pay for it. They shouldn't have to worry about other basketball engagements hindering his play.

I'm not saying Yao shouldn't have played for the Olympics. That's an honor which every athlete should take advantage of if given the chance. What most of the people in this thread have a problem with is Yao's summer leagues with the CNT. They have got to stop and hopefully they will from next season.

15 bucks an hour at Pizza Hut? I'd be all over that if it were true. That's more than I make with a degree and a desk job.

What upsets me is that you can't even type or spell coherently, yet you make it sound like 15 an hour is table scraps. You could be the poster boy for "it's not what you know...".

    :(

Look i love getting others points of views for various topic. This site is great because you are able to receive input from rockets fans all over the world. Instaed of just settling for the thoughts from our few friends and family within our small circle. So i respect and admire what you stated up until the the "this is a stupid thread". Why can't we just comment and be done instead of insulting the topic. I don't believe in stupid threads, only stupid people that are not knowledgeable enough to understand why the thread was trully created.

I hear ya. Yao is who we have. There really aren't many players I would take in his place, injuries or not. I think perhaps those that are "pissed" should be glad we have a guy of this kind of character. I mean he cares that much about the Olympics. If he can just bring a fraction of that to the NBA season (which he obviously puts a LOT into), then what more can one ask? It's like people on here complain to just complain.

With all the crap we've been through recently, look where we were last year. We were first in the WC for crying out loud. Still took on the Jazz with Skip, Bat, Mac, Yao, BJack, Francis, I don't even remember who else all hurt.

I should know better...it's just b/c it's the offseason. haha

I wish i was doing cool stuff like that, I'm mostly doing hydrology and rain simulation. Sinuosity and tortuousness of water in shrublands and grasslands. I was online at work, half the guys here are either checking their facebook or carousing the YouTube. I decided to do something constructive with my time.

why are u defending Yao??? This is a Houston Rocket site not a Yao Ming site. The rockets will be the Rockets whether he is here or not. I am a Rockets fan not just a Yao fan. Remember that. Or don't comment.

    thanks

    You've never met me.

You've obviously never met an English teacher.

Logically speaking, I guess it's possible.

agreed but then I should have to worry about our 7'6 center... having to play back to back 40 minute games... because if your worried he is going to get injured playing for the CNT.... then in a 82 game schedule... not only is that a forgone conclusion... its a safe bet... Yao will get injured..

On the subject of Nadal, in his prime Federer owned Nadal no other way to look at it. Sad to see the Media now hugging Nadal's nutsack like he is the greatest after deafeating Roger who is naturally on the decline of his career.

I agree. As fans we can certainly express our concerns of him playing back to back 40 minute games. If he gets injured doing only that, then it is certainly the Rockets' fault for not managing him right.

In my last post I said that the Rockets shouldn't have to worry about Yao's other basketball engagements effecting his play. They should only have to worry about how to play him as a Rocket. As his employer, they shouldn't have to worry about his on the job performance being effected through something that is off the job. If he gets hurt just playing in the NBA even after getting his summer rest, then the Rockets should look at limiting his minutes. The Rockets shouldn't need to worry about his performance hindering because of something off the job. What are they paying him for then? It's all about limiting the chances of him getting hurt.

The NBA season is the way it is so that players can recover during the offseason. They need a break after the 82 game grind. Yao doesn't get that break, and in the end, the Rockets tend to compromise the performance of their employee due to outside factors. That's not having the greatest employee... It needs to stop!
