Okay, DD, I'll give the message to Mr. Morey. I'm sure he'll listen to you Seriously, I'm pretty sure EVERYONE knows that we need a better starting PG; its just a matter of when and how Morey will get one. Have faith in Morey. Amen.
Need more money to upgrade the PG, so Morey maybe try to get Barry first. He mentioned in SP610 that Barry could be on the rockets if Yao was not injured last year. Morey could really like him.
i'd actually take a back up center before another pg. we need a big who can play about 15-20 mins a game. we need to get yaos mins down
Rafer!!!!!!! All he can do is score/& miss shots, he is incapable of running the team as he is not a Playmaker Point Guard.
What about Sebastian Telfair? He might be a cheap alternative.... And he is an unrestircted Free Agent DD
We already have Brooks, Telfair is redundant. We need a legitimate upgrade: Barbosa, Hinrich (combo guards) or if we are going to go for more dimunitive types: Crittendon or Lowry.
Alston is fine off the bench i believe he is the best back up in the league or would be. If nothing can be done we need to sign players with the most value if possible for a trade. If it was possible to resign Landry then also Udrih and Pietrus then i feel we did something very good this off season all though that is almost impossible. Pietrus is real good and can stay in front of his man and playes really good perimeter style defense and rotates quick, not only that, but he can run in the break and finish at the rim. Brooks and Pietrus in the back court would be awsome with their speed off the bench add that Dorsey also is fast and so is Greene. We really need to target Pietrus like something fierce.
When he is hot, Rafer can do lots of good things. The problem is that he forces to do something which is not there when he is not hot. To me he just does not have a great PG IQ, but still a good PG in the team.
Yea i agree. He knows the system and its a free style system something he knows except how to finish around the rim with consistency and the jumper other then that he is a average point guard. He really dont turn the ball over either and can run the team very well. Defesively is also pretty decent. Pietrus can guard the likes of Ray Allen type players or even Ginobilli i seen him do it.
I think y'all are way too enthused about that one rookie. I'm hoping the sky is the limit, but let's not pencil him in anywhere. It is still possible that, pending summer league, he doesn't end up on our final roster for the season... Looks like a ton of personality, but his game has its limitations.
But he does fit in for 10 or 12 minutes a game at the Center position and it may mean that we don't resign Deke. DD
Here's my prediction, that i'll throw at Morey at the summer league in a couple weeks.... With Dorsey in the mix... Sign Landry (4M?), package him with Rafer (4.5) add the free 2nd rd we got from Memphis (plus Hayes (1.75), Head or Novak to even out the contracts) for HINRICH (11.25)! That's the move! Then we package BJs expiring contract plus whoever is left over after Hinrich deal (Head/Hayes/Novak) and get a solid bu SF. Championship, baby!!!! PG Hinrich/AB/SF SG TMAC/ FA (barry) SF Battier/ X /Harris PF Scola/Greene/Dorsey C Yao/Deke/Dorsey
Stop doubting Rafer, we dont need a point guard...well not as much as we need a backup wing, and Beno isnt even an upgrade to Rafer...he is a downgrade....so unless you have a masterplan for us to get Davis or Agent Zero....I dont see any point guard out there that can actually help us
Beno got a full MLE offer from the Kings, and I would take him over Rafer so fast it would make your head do a meatspin. DD
So who takes his roster spot? Deke? Woods? Dorsey will make this team. He is an awesome weak-side shot blocker, can jump out of the gym and can run the break like few other big man. He can play both PF and Center unlike Deke or Woods. He had a horrendous free throw percentage in college, but it made absolutely no sense. If you watch his form, it is flawless. This was mentioned many times during the tournament. I am pretty sure that he will improve in that area. He is a bruiser that has enough height and speed to bother both Boozer and Okur. If nothing else he can give 6 extremely punishing fouls. He might not make the 12 man roster right away, but he will make the 15 man roster for sure. Deke has only one year left and can only give about 10 minutes a game. IMO by mid-season, Dorsey will be spelling Yao more than Deke.
telfair? and you complain about rafer being a poor shooter...wow TMac = 20.18 Yao = 15.49 Rafer = 12.46 Scola = 8.38 Battier = 7.72 again, you're not looking at the big picture or acknowledging my point, that rafer has been forced to shoot more because the team lacks otgher scorers...particularly at the guard position. Given the amount of minute he played, 12 shots per is hardly "enormous", which was my main point, i.e. your overexaggeration
It is all a matter of perspective, to me as a bad shooter, he should be getting OTHERS shots instead of chucking so much. But, because every other team knows this, they leave him wide open, and he still hits less than 40%.......look when Rafer is on....every now and again, he is great....but he is off so often that if we just improved to a player shooting a tad over 40% it would make a huge difference to the rest of the team. A player that can shoot has to be guarded, Rafer doesn't have to be accounted for, and that is a massive disadvantage on the offensive end. And Telfair shot better than Rafer overall last season, and had more assists DD
Because the Kings are stupid, that is why we are in the messes they are in right now, and by signing Beno instead of trying to trade up and draft a point guard. Rafer might not be a star, but I mean we woulda had a fighting chance with Rafer in the playoff last year. I have to say I trust Van Gundy when he say Rafer is one of the Best point guard in the league. Haha maybe not that far, but I mean the Rockets is a different team when he doesnt play. He is more important than ppl think.
