Are you serious? Unless you want to change the constitution you realize that's impossible.

I don't think Islam is our biggest threat. If you want more stability from that part of the world, then it comes down to poverty and opportunity. Israel was a very big torn and most of the terrorism started after that - most of these groups came after that - and a lot of them have roots all the way to our CIA in afganistan.

I think if we just finalize this peace process with Israel and get energy independent, we'll be fine.

Ditto. Hell, make that two dittos for the two Ditto-Heads. I could post huge amounts of info detailing horrific crimes perpetrated by people "...in the name of Christianity," but that would be tarring an entire religion out of ignorance, stupidity, gross negligence, and... did I mention stupidity? Yes, I did. That's OK, because it deserves being said twice.

So make that two ****ing morons.

Bin Laden was not poor. please try again.

and "just finalize this peace process:" on what basis? we've been trying for 30 years- it's not simple when at least one party refuses to negotiate in good faith.

how would you achieve energy independence? if we cut off oil/gas imports from the middle east, how would we meet our immediate needs w/o tapping our own oil and gas reserves? what is a realistic time frame for developing alternative sources? 50 years? 75 years? are you prepared to live with w/ terrorism for that long?

and nice how you blame all terrorism on israel- at least you're upfront w/ your antisemitism. perhaps you agree with Helen Thomas?

Hard to take anything seriously that you will post from now on. Not that it was not already like that.

Unfortunately the abrahamic faiths are written in a way which is open to violent interpretation. We need better religions than what we have today.

What a surprise. Inflammatory, room-temp IQ thread title, followed by cut and paste, topped off with a disappearing act from the OP. Hmmm... Where have I seen that before?

I know he won't care, but this is my last post, or visit, or view to any thread created by OddsOn. More should join me, if they're sick of it. Cheers.

I always think of the movie Rules of Engagement when this debate comes and right wingers point to the extreme things done by Muslims.

To counter the argument that things were out of control, the attorney asks the witness to read the Washington newspaper for the day and read all the horrible things happening in America on a given morning.

Well there were never any 'Islamic' problems till we started supporting Israel.
I don't care for Israelis or Arabs but we're feeling the brunt of our support of 7 million people in Israel at the expense of pissing off a billion people.

Their strong-armed policies reflect poorly on us. It adds risk premiums to oil prices, hurts international trade and endangers our American people globally.

Simply put. Its not our problem.

Antisemitic? So any critic of Israel is an anti-Semite? Wow.

You look at the history of terrorism and back in the 1950's and 60's and in fact you'd see that much of it was directed at the British by former colonial territories. In fact, there were Zionist terrorists groups that struck the British as well.

What most people consider "Islamic Extremism" is the form of terrorist bombings didn't begin until the 1970's with the PLO. Their tactics were not unlike those of other groups fighting oppression such as the IRA. So that's strange to condemn and entire billion people based on that...I mean, are christian terrorists because of the IRA???

If you do not know the degree to which Israel conducted itself in the Occupied Terroritories I suggest you read up on it. It was pretty grotesque violations of human rights. It was defacto ethnic cleansing in certain neighborhoods and many were subjected to summary executions and having their homes simply bulldozed while some were still in them.

The U.S. watched idly by and in fact armed Israel.

I am not justifying the response or the rise of terrorism, merely explaining to you how it came about Basso. If you want to solve a problem you need to really know what happened and how it happened.

There is immense anger that has been fomenting for 50 years and a perceived lack of justice to a people who are poor yet have immense wealth in oil. They live in closed societies for the most part and their gov'ts have used the U.S. for scape goats teaching them that their suffering is a result of U.S. / Israeli policy - not their poor gov't administration of oil wealth.

To say that it is Islam not only doesn't jive with a 1000 years of history, it's really anti-productive because it just further creates a divide between cultures. And it will be used by those such as yourself to justify violence against "them".

If you want to solve the problem, you have to remove the antagonism. And yes, that's Israelis expansion into the west bank and our interference in the region - as a result of our need to protect our national interests in energy. Terrorism wasn't a problem for us in the region 40 years ago. It became that over time - and we only woke up about 9 years ago when it hit us home hard. Israel has not been a fair broker either - they did not honor provisions and confidence building steps. It's clear that the hawks in Israel wish the conflict to continue so they can continue expanding into the west bank and further secure land gains for a larger state down the road.

People say they hate us for who we are. That's not true. They hate us for what we do.

The U.S. and Russia could easily force a peace onto the region and solve this crisis, but both countries play into the politics of the situation. If you try to take a tough stand with Israel - you get called an Anti-Semite by people like yourself...that why nothing can be done.

Then you have people telling us that Muslims are a violent people and I just can't fathom how you can say that if you even knew a single Muslim.

"Hey its just another friendly bombing from the peaceful /christian/ people"

^I'm sure many millions across the world have thought that about us. Christianity, Islam, and other religions all have fringe aspects to them. Some really small % of them brainwash themselves into justifying violence. The OP comes across as blatantly ignorant.
