even he didn't play much time for Magic, this guy still got some potential.

at 6'4, he could be the good shooter for us.

    thought?

I kind of like that Brewer kid out of Arkansas.

    Wait, what year is this?

Kneejerk ... sorry. I think he adds shooting, and not much else. A minor upgrade over Luther Head, at best. We should look for someone more physically imposing and more versatile on both ends of the court.

If we want to put someone on the floor to stand in the 3pt line we might as well put Novak in there.

why would we wantto waste a draft pick or player to get an unproven shooter in JJ?

He may have all the upsides and given the fact that Magic was seriously lacking at the 2 guard position (as the playoffs exposed), they still couldn't use JJ. I wouldn't get him, unless he was waived and we can give him a 10 day to see how he will pan out.

He may be unproven as an overall NBA player, but he is surely NOT an unproven SHOOTER !

That is the one area he is PROVEN in...

    no, no picks.

i'm all for trading luther str8 up for jj if the $ match. don't think luther is THAT bad like many say, but it might be good for both luther and jj to change scenery.

if we have to give up more than luther, then i say forget it. we've got novak already.

LOL - all year long DD screams about how we need penetrators - but when the prospect of acquiring one of his pet projects arises, this goes out the window, and a standstill shooter who has been an NBA bust becomes the tonic for all that ails the rox.

Rockets already had a few "unproven as an overall NBA player but a proven SHOOTER". LH, SN, AB. Please no more unproven players. Rockets need win now.

LOL - typical Sam Fisher trying to twist an argument and taking pot shots at me.

Just because you acquire JJ does not mean we stop trying to acquire a penetrating player.

That would be the priority......for sure....

Different issues all together, and it does not mean the other is negated.

You should just go back to resorting to your name calling, at least then there is a chance you get tossed from the board !

    SHEESH !

I'm going to start keeping a running chronicle of DaDakota's proposed off-season starting lineups - thus far we are up to

    Papo-cindros blockus
    JJ Redick
    Tracy McGrady
    Luis Scola
    Yao Ming

with Brooks, Novak, and Carl Landry rounding out the rotation - everybody else is expendable to get THE PRECIOUS!

I think if you put this team agaisnt the Jazz in the playoffs, they sweep the rockets in 2 games, with the last two being forfeits, depending on which of Yao or Tracy is injured.

The team needs a third scorer,
JJ Redick is a spot up shooter like we have in Novak. If he hustles and plays hard like a Jon Barry then he will be useful, if not then it will be a low priority move to get him.

He is absolutely no upgrade over Luther Head whatsoever.

Given how useless Head was in the playoffs, I'd trade him for JJ straight up. Head couldn't shoot straight or defend, at least JJ can do one of those. Can you imagine him on the floor with Novak? It would the no-defense, only three pointers offense lineup.
