yeah, my paper on quantum dots for inorganic chemistry last semester sure looked a lot like my paper on quantum dots for materials 2 semesters ago. of course, the materials prof graded it by flipping through to see if we wrote 6 pages then called our names out and if we were there we got credit. i felt the paper should get graded for real at least once.
refman.. .. Oh forgot about that... do you know if indeed it is the case though. if he wrote say an article for the chron now .. is it the property of the chronicle.. or his own property??
Poor judgement by Mickey. We all make mistakes. I'm prone to forgiving and forgetting in this case. It can't be easy cranking out a column with such high expectations on a semi-regular basis.
the problem is, I guess.. it wasn't a one time thing.. according to the article he has done this more than once
That one doesn't really bother me (probably because how am I ever going to find out what they wrote in another class, unless I was the one teaching the other class). If you're not able to come up with a unique, original type of paper for the students to write, then you're asking for it. At least it is the student's own work. I used an extra credit presentation three times - in 7th, 8th, and 11th grades - and got credit every time. (I did tell the teachers I'd used it before though.) Now, the newspaper thing is more serious. It's his job to come up with a certain number of original columns. People are out there reading this stuff. They're not paying him to recycle.
isabel... yeah, personally I've never had a paper assigned in college that I could have used on something else. They have all been pretty specific to the course. But if it's written into the rules, I guess at one point they had people trying to do it.
Some more Chronicle Sports questions: What has happened to Dale Robertson, Carlton Thompson, and Eddie Sefko. I know Sefko was pushed to the golf beat sometime ago. Also, why has the Chronicle cut down from 4 local sports columnists to 3? And what's with Richard Justice trying to become the next Kornheiser?
I think Eddie Sefko is writing for the Dallas Morning News, covering the Mavs. I wish he was still with the Chronicle, although I wouldn't want to lose Jonathan Feigen.
i used my 10th grade english research paper as my paper this year in my senior year, no changes.. well except for the stupid spelling ones, but sad thing is I got a much higher grade.
We all make mistakes. I think Herskowitz got the punishment he deserved for something as relatively minor as this. I've always liked his writing but he has tailed off a bit in the past few years. Still, who is better in the Chronicle Sports Section. John Lopez? That guy flat out sucks. The only one that I enjoy reading regularly is Richard Justice.
