Sylar's expression changed very rapidly to a smug little smirk to a look of surprise/concern when she pointed the gun at her head, IIRC.
Real spoiler enclosed: Spoiler I heard that Hiro gets his sword from a museum. So maybe the dino isn't real, it's just a display in the museum.
Seeing as how you were right about Peter being the nuke, would you mind sharing who your source is? If not, that's cool, too.
These episodes get better and better! Screw spolier tags. I'm done using them in this thread. I think it's safe to say that if you venture on to this topic, you're going to read spoilers. Maybe a mod can put SPOILERS in the topic heading? I had assumed that Charlie (Hiro's waitress love) died of her brain tumor, and was not killed by Sylar, since Hiro went back in time and changed the past. How can events have been possibly the same to lead to her getting killed if she knew Hiro in the past? He wouldn't have known her in the first place to go back. It's just a mind-f*ck conundrum anyway and a huge plot hole. Better to not think about it, I guess. The whole 'Hiro getting the sword in a museum' makes total sense, and it also makes the sword that much cooler. Every geek knows that ancient Japanese swords have been folded 1000 times during forging and that they are magic. And it was definately a T-Rex. This show still irks me sometimes. It's probably the different writers coming together, but sometimes the characters do dumb stuff, like Eden screwing up and getting herself into trouble and ultimately killing herself. I'm glad she's gone though. Her waif-ness bugs me. I think that her power didn't work on Sylar because she told him that she was going to put the gun in the tray and that he was going to shoot himself in the head. She never put the gun in the tray, so he wasn't compelled to comply. Speaking of Eden getting sucked through the super-thick plexiglass window: if it were possible to break it with a human body, don't you think the person would be dead after the impact? Anyone else catch Hiro and Sulu together on that VH1 awards show Sunday night?
I'm pretty sure the scene where Peter blows up is a bit misleading. he says it's all his fault but in actuality he probably saves the city by absorbing the radiation from nuclear man. Saving the cheerleader allows her to be there with him to heal himself. He must have been really sick because he wasn't able to heal while claire was there visiting him. Power Poisoning? hehehe
Anyone else notice the relationship forming between Claire and Peter? How old is Peter, anyway? 25ish? Not too big a gap if she's 18. She's definately hot for him. Oh yes, as far as Peter goes, I think he may keep a tiny bit of power from each person.
I dunno, maybe Claire heals bodily injuries like cuts/broken bones but not viral stuff. You can't break her arm but you can give her a cold. Maybe?
That reminds me of what Mr. Bennett said to Sylar while in captivity. He said because Sylar had absorbed all those powers, he was deteriorating and losing his mind. I was talking to my bro on sunday about Sylar and said he wouldn't be suprised if Sylar were going insane because eating human brains drives people nuts. Something like mad cow disease? I wonder if Sylar is hungry for power or if he really is losing it up there. Edit: In regards to Peter and Claire, she looked like she admired him for being a hero, not that she had the hots for him. But I hope I'm wrong.
they eluded in a previous episode that she's never been sick. (crap, nevermind that was the Omen I watched a few days earlier.)
I think it might be a bit of hero worship and school girl crush type of thing, esp after he told her that he didn't know he'd regenerate after the fall.
If you look at the scene with Eden with her head through the glass you'll see it's actually not that thick. who knows maybe he actually hit her against the glass and it didn't break so he shattered it himself and then grabbed her. Small thing that can be overlooked. People have fallen from bungee jumps and lived.
I think she turned the gun on herself after the comment that Sylar made about how her powers were going to help him immensely. In shooting her own brains out he didn't have the opportunity to figure out "what made her tick" I don't know if yall listen to podcasts. But I work on one that is all about Heroes. http://www.heroescast.com
Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is what he was talking about. I don't think Sylar actually eats their brains, though. It is also usually associated with deterioration of motor function fairly early; when people get it they look like drunks with severe Parkinson’s. I don't see any of that from Sylar. It would also require that one of the people that he killed be already infected by Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease which seems like a very long shot. I think he was implying that Sylar might be changing his genetics too much and so perhaps is becoming biologically unstable. [rquoter] The first symptom of CJD is rapidly progressive dementia, leading to memory loss, personality changes and hallucinations. This is accompanied by physical problems such as speech impairment, jerky movements (myoclonus), balance and coordination dysfunction (ataxia), changes in gait, rigid posture, and seizures. [/rquoter] The disease, IIRC, was first discovered in an isolated tribe in Oceania that used to eat the dead. The whole tribe used to eat the body, but only the men who were leaders got the disease. They couldn’t figure out why children and women didn’t get it until they watched one of these ‘meals’. It turns out that the elder men saved all the tasty bits for themselves like the brain, while they left the chewy, bad bits for the less powerful members of society. The disease is only found in neural tissues so the children and women weren’t exposed.
Ottomaton: Your post reminded me of a thought I had last night. Anyone think it's possible that Sylar duplicated Charlie's tumor in his own brain by accident?
An interesting theory I found on HRG: Spoiler It is my belief that HRG is the one who's the power damper and not the Hatian. I think the show's done a clever job of misdirection with this... Examples: * When he instructed the Hatian to "clean people out" (Matt, the Quarterback) he always left the room before the Hatian did it. * When he instructed Eden to persuade Isaac, he was outside the room when she did it. * Six months ago, Claire's cut bled freely as HRG was there but was healed w/o a scar shortly after * Matt's powers did not work in the interrogation room in the vicinity of HRG and Claire * Sylar's abilities didn't work when he was in the room and I guess while he wasn't there there was nothing for Sylar to throw around * Peter started coughing as soon as HRG came into the room as if the healing effect reversed itself. he was better after Claire asked for a moment with him. Interesting dream Peter had as he'd never met DL to my recollection.
I don't know- he was sloppy in haste, or maybe there's some truth to what HRG said about him going nuts and he just copied whatever was different in her brain. At any rate, it's just wild speculation, but this show both suprises and irritates me with it's crazy turns. Vescey- that's a great theory.
