But 24 is one show that can extend itself, since each season really doesn't involve the past season to a great extent. It has general storylines, but its not like they reference the past seasons episodes prior to each new year show. I think Heroes can have the chance of extending it, by involving new characters but its damn hard. Same thing with Lost. I guess thats why they hire talented writers.
Great episode last nite, really enjoyed the flashback. Really liking HRG guys character more and more. Spoiler I was actually very happy that Hiro couldn't save Charlie, if he had it would have come off as a little cheap and too simple, I tend to like the idea that destiny is, for the most part, unescapable
I don't see why Heroes would have reference past episodes? Besides referencing the Heroes' abilities I don't see why there would need to be a link.
Heroes will last as long as they invent imaginitive villains along with good writing. Basically, If a Hero gets stale, you let the villain thin the herd.
Spoiler We don't know that he didn't save her from Sylar...just that she died. He couldn't save her from death because she had a tumor.
From what I understand each season completes a story arc, so it really isn't going to be extended from one season to the next. That's not to say they won't do a huge cliffhanger to lead into the next story arc at the end of each season.
I think I finally understand why they keep saying "Save the cheerleader, Save the world." Spoiler If Sylar killed Claire and absorbed her power, then he would become immortal, and possibly destroy the world.
Thoughts/questions about the whole Sylar/cheerleader thing: Spoiler Now that we know that Sylar can pretty much "spot" a person with powers on his own, why would he pass up on Claire to attack the other cheerleader, whether she was the one on the news or not? Shouldn't his power have just told him that Claire was really the one he was after? Oh well.
i don't think he has the power to automatically detect whether someone is a "hero". he knows they have power b/c of Chandra. Sylar got the information before he killed the geneticist. Sylar went after the other cheerleader b/c she was the one in the papers taking credit for saving the firefighter. naturally, he assumed he had the right girl.
Anyone else think that they could kick Sylar's butt? Man if only someone slapped his whiny ass around before he picked up Bryan Davis' power maybe none of this would have happened boo hoo i'm not special
Question: Spoiler How did Sylar know before killing the telekinesis guy that he would be able to absorb his powers by killing him?
Questions and speculations are NOT SPOILERS As to Sylar, he did say that he could "feel" the others out there with powers. He also sensed that Brian was "broken" which may just suggest that he was mutated from normalcy. Good call that he shouldn't have mistaken the two cheerleaders. Evan
^ I have the same ?...Also, how does he absorb them...And yeah, why couldn't he tell that the first cheerleader didn't have any powers... BTW, Don't forget about the Heroes marathon today on the sci-fi channel...
Maybe it's like the spiders he was talking about where they eat their young. He eats their brains and absorbs it.
Spoiler Regarding Charlie's death...I'm pretty sure she still died by Sylar's hand. I came to this conclusion by the following: 1. Ando seemed to still acknowledge that a rescue attempt still had taken place; therefore there was no memory alteration of what had occurred; 2. Charlie herself acknowledged that she had recieved a Japanese Language Learning Book for her Birthday, but she never explained from whom, implying that it could've have been Hiro; 3. Charlie really took a quick liking to Hiro off the bat when the first meet in the present time (I would love to re-watch that episdoe to see if there are any indications or tells that give away that she already known that they had met). That's all I got really, but I really do think that instead of going to Japan, Charlie had decided to wait for present Hiro to arrive again, and thus to re-unite with him. Regarding Sylar, I think he does have a power and one that was not so obvious as the others. As nyquil82 alluded to (IIRC), he can recoginized when things/people are broken, and he can fix it. But by being able to recognize people's whenever they're broken, he can examine how they work, and therefore possibly manipulate himself in such a way that he can permantely alter or take on their powers. Of course, this is a guess, and like I said nyquil82 came up with it first. Here's hoping next week's gives much more info.
Maybe Sylar is able to alter his genetic code. They had said that everything is in the brain. So he has the ability to take it apart and put it back together like the watch he had made. He takes the heroe's brain studies it and then alters his to obtain their power.
