Oh, so maybe that is Langhi's problem. He still uses basics he learned in high school???

Or maybe you are not hearing the order of magnitude difference that I say I've spotted. The guy is way too far outside his shoulder base.

If you spread your legs too far, you will have less maneuverability. Tell me how you pivot with your legs spread way outside your shoulder base. Spreading your legs might make you look like you are more intimitdating, but you'd only be fooling a barking dog....not Cuttino Mobley, who will drive directly at one of the legs you have planted too far outside your center of gravity.

DaDeDumb, allow me to put it in more layman's terms. You play Tennis right? You spread your legs on a return of serve, right? You spread them wide, right. Probably wider than you'd guard a dribbler. Do you leave them spread and planted when the server tosses the ball in the air, or do you hop?

why do you hop? for more maneuverability in either direction off of light feet, no? I'm not saying you hop against a SG, merely saying that legs planted wide are for NFL linemen and guarding Shaq, not NBA perimeter defense or NFL cornerbacks.

So, what does light of feet mean? I'm not talking about a linemen covering space; and I'm not talking about defending Shaq with a wide base. I'm talking about Barkley spinning around one of your planted feet. I'm talking about Bird instinctively knowing when your back leg is holding your weight, so he does the step back jumper. I'm talking about Jordan's cross-over when he gets you to stick a leg out in the faked direction and you cannot recover the other way....actually, I'm talking about ALL cross-over dribble tactics that involve your feet going too far outside your shoulder base to try to stop the first fake.

When guarding NBA SGs, you have little idea which way they will drive. You better be able to go both ways and not plant your feet hard.

jack be nimble, jack be quick. Don't plant your feet too hard.

[IMG] I think you must be confusing me with someone...at least I don't remember having made any comment about your bet...simply because I did not find it very interesting... [IMG]

    Good idea!!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

It sounds like he has a good attitude...not coming in making demands, displaying willingness to work on himself and his game - that is the kind of player we like!!

    HeyTastePee,

Let's go to the tale of the tape.

Me: Ex Sportcaster who covered major college basketball, and the San Antonio Spurs for over 2 years while Larry Brown was coaching.

You: Frustrated computer tech who acts like a know it all to hide his severe lack of athletic ability. All the while, mumbling under your breath about how little pay or respect you get at work. Yet, never having the sack to get off your lazy fat A$$ and make a go of it yourself.

    Yes, that is pretty accurate.

Tennis to compare to basketball? Did you know that out of an average Tennis match for every hour played, the ball is in play for a total of 4 minutes.

Goran just won wimbledon with the chest of a....well...a frustrated computer hack...HP.

Now, get to work, before I call your boss and tell him to look on this BBS and see how often you are stealing his money.

Oh, and tell Hey Sweaty that Weight watchers meets on Tuesday and Friday !!

    NEXT !!!

LOL! This thread is hilarious. [IMG] Y'all need to calm down, please.

I got an idea, how about hooping for bragging rights? Remember back when P1S2, who still lurks, tried to set up game and left everyone hanging? I was pretty hyped too. Come on! [IMG]

    Wouldn't it be great?

We could sell tickets. They'll be undercards too.

Ever since Dream V. Shaq Taco Bell style didn't go down back in 95 (I was sitting in front of the TV wondering why the pay per view wasn't working), I've had this empty feeling of seeing marqee one on one play.

All humor aside, I just think it'd be pretty fun to meet the faces behind the names and ball with y'all.

I remember P1S2 said that there were YMCA gyms that he could get for free. I know of some gyms close to my place in Sugar Land can be rented, but I don't know yet for how much.

Soooo, is anyone up for this?

PS. Sounds like Griffin is saying the right words...good post.

Funny how silent it got around here.

Especially now that Griffin has even told us that he is a 4.

    Preconcendulators abound.

Did you just admit to crying yourself out of the bet? I am sorry for all I have said. You are a fragile and weak person. Seek help.

As a side note - When you grow into a man, don't make any bets in bars. Welching on bar bets is a sure fire way to end up bloody on the ground in the parking lot.

    Colby,

How is it welching when I won the bet? Just because I don't choose to follow some dimwit who conceded WAY to early, and before the facts are in does not in any way make me a welcher.

However, if I choose to welch, I certainly can, and I don't give a rats A$$ what you think about it.

So take you silly, lack of basketball knowledge butt out of here.

    Kids !!! Sheesh !!!
