I can't believe I'm defending Moochie, but just from the boxscore, Moochie seemed productive in the first quarter (got all his assists early), then when we went to the mano a mano with SF versus five guys offense, he didn't contribute much at all stat wise.
Moochie's problem is he forces things to happen, instead of going with the flow of the game and allowing things to happen around him. He just needs to play smarter, if he does that everything will be fine for him.
The Answer is shooting 30.2% this season. Steve shot 13-28. That is pretty darn good. A-Train: Great post. Blame the lack of assists on Mooch. Steve had 4 dimes as a 2 guard, which is pretty good.
I thought Iverson lost, and R0cket03 started a "Daily Iverson Bashing" thread in the NBA Dish. 4 assists, I believe.
Bob, these guys are pros, this isn't recreation. Having a good memory of old timers, I am sure you remember plenty of guys with offensive skills not worth a darn who busted their butt on defense, setting picks, hustling and, if they are in the right place at the right time, scoring a garbage basket or two. Except for Steve and Cat--the rest of the guys needed that mindset yesterday. Griffin was most dissappointing. Offense I can understand, but I can't understand him letting the opponent PF kill us like that. Though Oneal is good, he is also still raw, and we made him look like a savvy Duncan/KG hybred out there. Eddie was our veteran forward last night and the one guy potentially with the size and athletic ability to match up, and he didn't match up at all on either end. He is young so the offense going south is understandable, but when that happens he need to try to extra bust his rear on defense and a Cato-esk (can't believe I said that) board effort.
BobFinn: The Sixers lost their first game and Iverson shot 7-28. The Sixers won last night and he shot 9-25. His FG% so far this year is 30.2%.
HeyPee apologizes for Coach Cud. He's in mid-season form. (I guess I should put a smilie in there, cause I was smiling when I wrote it.)
Bob* does bring up a very valid point, though. When I'm playing "church league" ball, and we have a ballhog on the team, I find myself doing a lot of standing around. If you know some guy isn't going to pass you the ball, you stop working to get open. Francis does have a tendency to look for certain players and not look for the rest. This may make some of his teammates complacent, and the defense can cheat a little bit. I'm not saying this was THE reason we lost last night, but it's a contributing factor to the demise of our offense.
Actually, we have two of them...they just constantly pass the ball to each other. But to tell you the truth it was a joy to be the ballhogger, if you win everyone say it's b/c of you, if you lose it's your team not contributing and poor you bearing all weight....either way you get you picking of the cheerleaders. I wish I was back in High School.
One game. Just one game people. We should be glad that Steve played his heart out. Cat put up 22. Cato got 17 boards. Eddie had a off night. We didn't have Taylor or KT for EG when he was off. It happens. Players have off nights. Lets stop being so PESSIMISTIC about the game. I mean look on the bright side, we have the best point guard in the West. We have the number 1 pick. We have the leading block shot in the preseason. We still have 4 solid forwards (KT, MoT, Rice, Morris) coming back. We are awesome. Give them little time to build some chemistry. Great game for Frachise.
