Hakeem missed 8 games late in the season that gave him fresh legs in the playoffs. The Jazz, Suns, Spurs and Magic never knew what hit them. He was totally on another level.

He was the prior year also.

Who is still talking about the Spurs? I held them in high regard in the Finals, along with most of the posters on this board, but the Finals are over.

But there's no reason to post "Look at what Hakeem did 20 years ago to the Spurs" pics or gifs. That just screams butthurt. It wouldn't surprise me if a poster like Houstunna or Harden2Dwight made this thread, but a quality poster like HeyP? Dang.

CF isn't turning into a Spurs forum. Don't try acting like it is. Besides, this entire thread is countered by juxtaposing a picture of how many titles the Spurs have, versus how many titles the Rockets have.

Didn't know where to post this but this seems fitting. Documentary on the Rockets first championship run:

Even if he were better which he is not, Duncan is the most boring player of all time that was in the MVP conversation. Most boring Ever.

Boring in the sense of uninspiring or not polarizing.

how makes you feel good what happens 20 years ago if you hate the Spurs right now.

People hate that Cowboys fans brings up the rings they won in the 90's and earlier, if you are talking about this season.

so why do it when is against the Spurs??

Tim Duncan definitely had the "better career" if you measure success by rings and wins, but Olajuwon was the better player, better talent. Duncan had a better organization around him with the best coaching mind ever.

Olajuwon scored at least 23ppg 9 times in his career.

Duncan scored at least 23ppg ..... 3 times!!

Olajuwon scored more points with a higher FG%.

Tim Duncan never tallied up 1 steal per game during a season in his whole career.. Olajuwon only had one season where he didn't grab at least 1 steal per game (grabbed at least 2 steals per game 5 times). Olajuwon's career average in steals in better than any single season Duncan ever had in that category.

Duncan was a good shot blocker.. but Olajuwon's blocking stats laugh at Duncan's.

    Both were very great rebounders.

Timmy was the better passer, he gets that. Less turnovers too.

Boring as to going to work everyday.... doing the same thing, helping the company making profits

Employer of the year type. Inspiring for those who wants to be him.

But no guarantee is that if he leaves that place he will amount to something as good.

Therefore he is never going to leave.

That was an amazing series. Going up 2-0 on the road; giving it all back and losing both games 3 and 4 at home. That was such a huge downer. Rockets looked like a defeated team walking off the floor. Then they go back to San Antonio to win game 5 and close the series out in 6.

One thing I noticed in these highlights is D-Rob looks gassed. Hakeem had no resistance getting the ball in low block.

Robinson did have the common courtesy to shake Hakeem's hand in the shower. I am sure he tried to get a reach around, but couldn't get to it. :p

Man, I forgot how much of a threat Big Shot Rob was. Man, he was killing them that game.

Akeem could not be handled that game at all, they was trying so much to get the ball out his hand lol.

And this was after Horry had an awful game 1...except for the game winning shot!

Unfortunately, it was that sort of inconsistency that made him expendable when this team was looking to upgrade in win-now mode.

It was a different style of ball back then...teams were less equipped to front/defend the post with illegal defense rules still in place, and teams were more willing to give up a wide open 3 vs. a contested 2.
