This is about one thing.....$. Most TV is virtually unwatchable these days.

Look guys, "A Season on the Brink" and "Hustle" were cinematic gold.

There's no way this plan can fail.

I must be in the minority then.

I loved Playmakers. Tilt was ok, but I'm not a big poker guy.

I want more playmakers type of shows in other sports, basketball, baseball, etc.

i think sitcoms would be an interesting concept too.

i applaud espn for attempting to brach the "E" after having cornered the market on the "S" for 25 years.

Somebody must be watching those dramas. They sure do keep making them. I have a few friends that really got into playmakers. The movies do suck though, I've never met anyone that thought otherwise.

What else is ESPN supposed to do, run the spelling bee constantly. Bowling? There's only so much sports programming. You guys act like the station is watchable 24-7. You probably are going to spend the same amount of time watching that you did before because the only things most of watch are sportscenter, college football, MLB, and the NFL. I'm sure you weren't watching bowling, the strongest man competition, and the constant loop of the spelling bee. They have to do something to replace that filler programming that I'm sure they know hardly anyone watches.

you're right. my question would be, are they planning on reducing coverage of MLB?? NFL??? actual sports coverage?? if they are, then that lends to the criticism you've seen here. i think the common perception among many has been that ESPN has gotten outside of its core competency, already.

I don't watch the dramas but I actually think they have improved recently with Cold Pizza, PTI, and Around the Horn. Not the most watchable shows but its a start. I never watch the morning shows on the networks but I catch Cold Pizza every now and then. I think they tapped into a good market. Guys like me who don't like network morning shows.

No doubt. TILT was UNWATCHABLE. I would seriously rather listen to Poker pros discuss past hands from the world series than watch that tripe. The only thing worse is celebrity poker, unless your goal is how to become a TERRIBLE poker player.

They could run more figure skating and gymnastics. They could show competitions from years past as well.

*ducks and covers... and tries to find a station that is showing figure skating or gymnastics*

We shouldn't be asking for much from a network that airs spelling bees.

that's during the middle of the day. i'm really only concerned with their evening programming and weekends. if they're spending primetime showing dramas, i'm not interested.

Throw me in the flame pit too, then, because I actually enjoyed Playmakers a lot. Obviously it was no cinematic breakthrough, but it was entertaining and fun to watch.

I'd love to see that boxing show that was mentioned earlier, and I really wouldn't mind it taking time from other events such as bowling, the spelling bee, lumberjack contests, or Dream Job #Who gives a crap.

As long as my Rox still get their air time, I'm happy ;)

These shows aren't going to replace the filler programming. If they wanted to air their all new episodes of TILT at 3 pm, go for it. But they want this stuff on primetime, and the article specifically alluded to downsizing their MLB/NHL/etc package.
