OT...for having to battle Barkley and Malone in the playoffs all the time, he rarely got recognition. ------------------ Now saw off...there's nothing to see here.
Hardwood- I totally agree with Moses. He was a great player who I came to enjoy when he came to the Sixers. Moses didn't have alot of skills but he busted his tail on rebounding! I still remember watching a Sixer game CB4 rookie year and seeing those two play volleyball on the offensive boards.
I would say that's it's real close between OT and Chucky Brown. Without Chuckie filling it up aganist Pheonix and other teams we never make the finals. OT on the other hand was a force on the Kings and then took second fiddle to help the Rockets. He rarely got credit for hitting big shots and banging with the Western crop of Power Forwards. Always seemed to make a big free throw just when things were getting tight. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
He said "underrated" not "underachieved." ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
I hate to say it but the bottom line is who has the most rings and that my friends is none other than Robert Horry. ------------------ Losers always whine about playing their best, winners go home and **** the prom queen" -Sean Connery, "The Rock"
I think it's Robert Reid. Here's a guy who "retired" and came back before MJ made that cool. He played point forward when the team needed it. He played D when the team needed it. He was a great presence in the clubhouse. And, he was clutch. Ralph's pretzel shot against the Lakers might be one of the most famous shots in franchise history, but ... Who hit the three pointer to tie the game? Robert Reid. Without that trey, Ralph is never in the position to win it. Honorable mention: Lewis Lloyd. Yeah, he was a cokehead, but he was also a one man fastbreak. I saw him score on so many one-on-three fastbreaks that I stopped keeping track. ------------------
Ralph Sampson. As vengance put it, most people think of Sampson as a complete waste but he was on his way to a hall of fame career before his injuries. Otis Thorpe. There was never anyone more consistant than OT. You new every single night you were going to get 17 pts and 10 boards with great D. Larry (Mr. Mean) Smith. The guy was just awesome on the boards and he played great D and would have been all star caliber if he had any offense at all. ------------------
Without a doubt, ROBERT HORRY!!! 4 RINGS! ENOUGH SAID. ------------------ --President of the Robert Horry Fan Club--
How about.. Craig Ehlo.. Jim Peterson.. Rodney McCrae.. and of course Granville Waders!! ------------------
Rodney McCrey is the all time most overrated Rocket in my book since the Rockets overrated him and took him with the 3rd pick in the draft instead of the Glyde. ------------------
How about Sleepy Floyd and Chilly Pete. ------------------ Go Rockets!!! SS [This message has been edited by Wink3Cat5 (edited June 19, 2001).]
4chuckie - I'm laughing as I type this.Watching Moses was amazing, but on the radio,I would crack up often listening to Gene's call of the game when Moses was out there playing volleyball(good choice of words) with himself. The Round Mound of Rebound and Moses..that's great. Another thing to think about with Moses is his tutelage of Dream. ------------------ If I had my life to live over,I would have liked to have ended up as a sportswriter - Richard M. Nixon,1969
I wanted to be the first to post Granville Waiters. I saw him fishing one day in his Granville Waders. j ------------------ Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!
Man see, you guys leaving Larry Smith out of the mix just proves, to me, that he was the most underated. They don't call him Mr. mean for nothing. Look at the bald headed man with the scowl over on the bench. After all these years the damn guy looks like he's still lusting for offensive rebounds. ------------------
