after the cluster F that was RIta, i don't blame the early (albeit overly exaggerated) response.

Edouard is weak it's getting way overrated...

...people stocking up on supplies are wasting their time.

You, sir, don't know the meaning of a tropical storm. I know this is nothing like Alison, but it's still pretty strong to knock down a few things and cause major flooding. Houston's transportation system is crap and everyone knows it. Everytime a lot of rain his thrown in Houston, it always floods.

Always seems like storms go further north. You'll know were doomed when a storm track has the center making landfall 100 miles south of Galveston 24-36 hours out.

What evidence of this is there? None, really.

Agreed..... it all depends on where you live. As I said before earlier in this thread I live in Surfside where even a tropical storm can do some significant damage. Hell both Francis and Allison flooded the island ;did some damage to some of the houses here (including one home burning down all together) and left us here without power for a couple of days. Just because its a tropical storm or a minimal hurricane doesn't mean it is insignificant.

Wow, I have not given much thought to this, but I just stopped at Wal-Mart because i wanted to get some dog treats for the neighbors' dog. They got her as a guard dog after being robbed so many times but I don't think they take care of her, she's been crying for days and now she's chewed a hole in their wooden gate and can squeeze in and out at will, poor thing.

Anyways, I was shocked to see all these people there buying up supplies and what not. I mean, Even if it becomes a hurricane, it doesn't look like it will be a strong one and the southwest side of Houston is pretty far inland.

I live by a bayou, but I haven't seen my street flood in like over 15 years.

My only concern is gas going up after it's been steadily dipping lately.

It looks like Edouard may finally be getting its act together. The satellite presentation is much improved and this thing may start to take off. There appears to have been a slight shift northward. Something small like that could have a major impact on whether we see the worst of this or a near miss like Rita. Stay tuned.

Reporting from The Woodlands: Old people are going crazy, buying bottled water and scrupulous amounts gasoline along with 4 tanks; they seem to have forgotten it's not even a hurricane yet. Sams Club is being overrun by diabetics in electric wheelchairs.

Wow...imagine if it was really something serious. We would be rioting in the streets and turning cars over and lighting them on fire.

Crazy people everywhere. At the Randall's gas station in Pearland people were honking at each other and acting stupid...I just drove up the street and filled up at Exxon which was not crowded at all and was the same price. What the hell is wrong with people?

    From the NHC-

Basic reformation of an eye wall cycle, or at least it's trying to. They are now reporting winds at 61KT. It's getting its act together and strengthening.
