Looks like another case of Houston's local news channels (KPRC, KRIV, KTRK) creating an artificial panic.
Are you sure? Talked to my mom this morning and she said that stuff like ice, bread, and water was flying off the shelves at Krogers yesterday. Sounds like at least some people were panicked.
Being prepared in case of flooding and power outages when the NWC shows a slow-moving storm about to hit your city is not "panicking". It's not like Houston never floods.
it feels like a regular rainstorm. the only serious hurricane ive felt was Alicia, but I was three months or something.
It barely rained over here on the southwest side. But we didn't get anything during Allison or Rita either.
yeah while i wouldn't say people had no reason to be prepared for possible flooding, this is yet another case of much ado about nothing. we friggin' cancelled work today, which would be good if we weren't hourly. i would've come in if we had been allowed to. so now we just have to come in on friday and make up for today.
Pshhh, you only wished. (or i did). I don't want to drop neighborhood names, so I'll just kind of make it to where you will understand. Is there apark across your neighborhood? You said you didn't live in the neighborhood with the flute sounding names. There is also a new neighborhood that was recently built. I don't recall any of those places being severely flooded in 99 or 01. Just wondering so i can stop by when you're grilling.
