excellent news because i'm going to barton creek resort friday night and hitting up the blanco river saturday. any little bit will help.
This the gayest storm in the history of gay. I'm on the fourteenth floor. The building shakes when a breeze comes through. All my friends are off today and I'm stuck here doing nothing.
I just spoke to my brother in Baytown/Dayton, he is about to get the eye....says it is like a big rain storm and the power blinked once... No biggie. I am putting on my raindance gear and heading out to the yard... DD
well, that was fun still here at the beach on the west end, and nothing but a little rain. Hopefully my house in Baytown is ok, probably is or our older girl would have called whining.
reporting from Lady_di's area. It has been raining lightly for a few hours. The rain intensity has picked up a bit. That's about it. Just rain.
I work in an office of about 25, about five of us are here, the office is split into two sides, on my side only one other guy showed, and he commutes from Galveston. Unbelievable
So here's how things work at my office... The president basically insists on everyone coming in, no matter how bad the weather is. They even went around one year and picked up employees from their homes using a bus if the rain was too high to drive. Yet here we are in the middle of a non-event in terms of tropical storms and the president is the only person who didn't show up. I realize she's the president and can basically do whatever she wants, but that's just some hypocritical r****ded bulls**t. How you can insist that other people put their lives on the line to get to work (if/when the storms are actually dangerous) and then not even show up yourself when some weak crap like this rolls through? /rant
I got sent home from work due to the flooding and my car rides maybe 6 inches from the ground. I did not argue.
On the media, a co worker and I were just discussing how Allison really caught a lot of people off guard, and the weather people really didn't give a big warning about what could happen. maybe they are just fearful of something like that happening again, which is truly understandable.
Absolutely. People like to laugh at people being over-prepared and what not, but Houston has been in close proximity to disasters directly relating to tropical systems. I don't blame people for being over cautious nor do I blame people for not. We're all different and react different to various situations.
Anyone else listen to John and Lance this morning and the calls coming in reporting pine cones falling and leaves falling off trees? I was rick rolling lol.
my boss insists that we leave work soon and go home but unfortunately for me our HR director informed us that if we leave early they will have to dock our pay since technically our office is still open. yeah.
