Question: I thought Dark Side of the Moon had this record? From Hardradio.com: The GUNS N' ROSES collection Greatest Hits, released in March 2004, is currently the only album that has spent more than 100 weeks on the Billboard Top 100 album chart. According to Billboard (www.billboard.com), the album has also shipped more than two million copies. Reportedly, the new Chinese Democracy will be a 3CD set. As noted previously, Guns N' Roses will appear at the Download 2006 festival, set to take place June 9th - 11th at Donington Park in England. The band will join METALLICA at the top of the bill for the event, which will provide the only UK shows for the two groups. Guns N' Roses will take to the stage on Sunday (June 11th), while Metallica will play the previous night. Axl Rose said of the appearance: "The UK and Europe have always been special for me. After our last great shows there, we are all very excited and looking forward to getting back over there and in front of such great audiences."
IIRC, DSOTM was in the top 200 album chart for 14 years (or close to that amount), so it is very possible that GnR has the record for longest stay in the top 100.
Further proof that the American music consumer has no taste whatsoever. Remember, the same American music consumer made Ashlee Simpson go platinum! If you are looking for good music on the top 100 album charts, or any of the other charts for that matter, you are looking in the wrong place....
