    T. Newman and R. Williams would be nice. :D

And ditto Casserly being a genius. Henson and Hollings and even Milford Brown could turn out to be steals.

Still not sure about the Ragone pick though...

John Clayton said that the Cowboys may give the Texans a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder for Henson.

    Nice work by the Texans.

Sorry but I really don't think the Boys will give up a 1st round pick for Henson right now. Now if Henson sits around unsigned until around next years draft then Dallas may do it, but I think Parcells and Jerry both know that he won't be ready to play this year.

If Dallas was looking for a QB they could get Brunnel for much cheaper (not in salary but in what they give up).

As for What Dallas would give for Henson I would guess a conditional 2nd or 3rd round pick (depending on how much he plays) along with a low pick (6th rounder).

I would be very disappointed if Dallas dropped a first round pick on him right now, since training camp is almost over and there is little chance he would help out much this year.

How much will a 2004 first round draft pick help Dallas right now?
Dallas would be losing a potiental player for a stud quarterback that would be available throughout the season to learn the offense. I think Dallas would welcome Henson in a situation like a red-shirt year to acclimate himself to the Cowboy offense.

He would be the 3rd or even 4th quarterback if the Cowboys wanted to carry that many, and he would have a lot of time to gain experience in the system and learn about the players around him.

That is, if he has officially made his decision to quit baseball in order to play football.

How many chances do teams get to trade for a #1. Almost never. Yet, that's exactly what is going to happen. It should be a bidding war that ends early. Plus there is some hype. So this is all good right now.

this makes no sense to me...if you'd be willing to use your first round pick on Henson next season, were he available in the draft and committed to playing in the NFL, then you trade the pick now to get the guy in your camp earlier to learn your system and get acclimated to your team. you don't wait to do that and miss out on the possibility the texans trade him elsewhere if you really believe he will fill a long-term need for your club.

Dallas already has that QB, his name is Chad Hutchinson. No way would they carry 2 QBs both of whom took 2+ years off from football so I don't see the Boys trading for him this year until they see what they have in Hutchinson.

As for a 2004 pick. Well it looks like we have 2 players who are both starters from the last 2 drafts. I agree a 2004 pick doesn't help now, but neither does Henson.

And yes I know Henson may be a great player but taking off 2 years from football would make him a real risky first round pick. Maybe somebody will give you that much, but I would be surprised if it's the Cowboy's doing it.

    Max-
I want to see who's avaiable in next years draft (vs where the boys are pickign at), and get a chance to really scout him throughout the year.

The Browns offered us Couch (#1 overall) for our 1st round pick this year and we turned them down.

how will henson be scouted?? he's not playing college ball this year. look to long, and he'll be gone...someone will pick him up and pay big for it. he was a projected top 3 pick just two years back...

Parcells wants to give Hutch one year on the bench to see what he has. He sees great potential (he looks like a big time QB, throws like a big time QB, can't move like alot of big time QBs, etc) but he thinks he is still too rusty to be playing right now, especially behind our offensive line.

I've never say he doesn't like Hutch, just he wants some time to evaluate him to see if he can live up to his potential.

Projected top 3 pick 2 years back, what does that matter?

Maghee was a top 3 pick until the Fiesta Bowl it didn't get him picked in the top 3

Simms was a sure-fire top pick 3 years back but he never sniffed the 1st round

Tim Couch was the #1 pick 5-6 years ago and he's riding the pine.

Potential from 2 weeks ago (much less 2 years ago) doesn't mean much.

What really matters here is that the Texans struck gold and they will be paid very well for it. I could care less if Henson was traded to the Cowboys, Dolphins, or Cardinals. What I care about is the 1st rounder the Texans will get.

610 is saying it isn't confirmed by Casserly, so it could be false or it could be true and Henson just hasn't contacted everyone yet.

Well, I predict Hutch will be quite good at sitting on the bench. I have seen that potential in him.

I'm not sure that not playing is a good way to shake off that rust, though.

That's a good point, I hope the Texans sign Henson and bench Carr immediately :)

You know, I could see the boys giving up a 1st rounder, but not this years, esp with them thinking(and deservedly so) that they'll suck. They'd probly give up a future conditional 1st rounder, whcih would still be hella good for the texans.
