Whether mobsters follow an "honor code" or not, they're just lowlife dirtbags regardless. Money and image can only cover up so much sleeze.

My normal person perspective is pretty simple: If YOU get nabbed in something, DON'T bring down other people WITH you. Don't go "viral". Don't have "misery in your company", take the consequences of YOUR actions. Life isnt fair.

But whats even less fair is bringing down others when everyone originally had a "handshake" agreement to protect each other.

It doesnt matter if its sneaky and underhanded, or just something legally strategic. You don't want anyone "tipping" your moves. You dont like chicks playing "kiss & tell", etc. A team effort and family effort good and bad reasons follows the same approach

Life isn't fair, and because it isn't fair you shouldn't make it less fair?

That doesn't make any sense, and I have a very very very hard time believing most people wouldn't snitch when looking at 30 to life vs. a much much shorter sentence, or none at all.

Are undercover agents ok? Because what they're doing is entering into this unspoken handshake arrangement you speak of, gaining the trust and confidence of others, only to snitch later. Not just to snitch, but going into the relationship with the express intent to snitch later, as opposed to just doing it to save one own's hide. Is this ok to you, from a moral fairness of life perspective?

Morality is only a small part. An agreement is an agreement. I'm assuming that all the SUCCEEDING things that'd happen afterward are accounted for at THE START of the agreements. They all know what they're getting into INCLUDING facing the 30 to life.

I definitely don't know all how crime mobs, cartels and syndicates work. Maybe when they agree to the terms, its understood that deep down they really dont mean it. Maybe there ARE limits the agreements, when sentences get to certain thresholds that you can rat. But reneging on an agreement is weak.

But you're saying all THAT aside, what would you REALLY do? I agree an admitted scumbag ratting out others isnt any more or less a scumbag, cuz they threw good characters concerns out the window. Yeah I or most would probably snitch instead of taking 30 to life. Like a previous poster said, absolutely no honor among thieves.

Though even when its not for crimes for foul play, just "taboos" in society, saying "I'm a slut so I might as well be a selfish slut writing tell-alls for money", whats the point of doing ANYTHING or when you can't have any sensitive data protected lol. Why do anything under pretense of protection when the next guy will just undercut your security at any selfish moment. But thats just the world we live in, gotta go with it.

Henry saved his own life and probably kept others from being killed; there's no honor among thieves and hell doesn't exist. So let's give thanks for a watchable script before movies and TV all went to crap.
