working at an optical place, i can tell you that if you're paying more than 100 for any frame (eyeglasses or sunglasses) you're obviously paying too much. i'll refrain from telling you how much these suckers are at cost. BUT..

y'all are right. cheap sunglasses and expensive sunglasses does the same job: block out the sun. granted, polarized lenses does a much better job than regular sunglasses (take my word for it. unless y'all want a physics lesson) so of course they're a bit more.

as long as your sunglasses are polarized and there's like some sort of proof that it IS polarized (i.e. by the name brand or some kind of cert. of auth.) and you like them, they're good.

the only difference between cheap and expensive ones is build quality. believe me, patients/customers bring in more cheap sunglasses for me to fix than the expensive ones. sometimes i just want to tell the customer "look, i can put this screw in for $5 or you can just take that $5 and go get you the same pair from where you got it because these aren't worth more than that".

bottom line: unless you know someone that can get you a hook up, stay in the cheap or midrange (i.e. fossil, etc) level. if they break, buy a new pair.

I definitly agree with this reccomendation. I got a pair of MJ Sport Kanahas at the begining of summer and they are by far the best pair of sunglasses I have ever owned. Light, comfortable and the lenses are outstanding.

You can also get pretty decent deals on them on Ebay.

I have my cheap plastic ones from Academy polarized. About 8.99 American DOLLARS. Easy to clean. Plastic. In the fishing clothing aisle. Get'em.
