Faos, you probably have an Optical audio output besides a mono/stereo (white and red) audio output on that TV if it has HDMI. See if you can have your Blu-ray go HDMI to your TV, then optical from the TV to your receiver, if your receiver can do Optical input. This is the way I have my setup. I just switch the input on the TV all the time, turn off the TV speakers, and control only the audio on the receiver. Don't you agree, tinman? Maybe Faos can shed some light on the sound outputs from his TV. Would that even make sense...? Why would a Blu-ray player even have 2...? I see you could have 1 HDMI and another RGB/component and a Yellow/RCA video out, but not 2 HDMIs.
yeah, you should send your audio to your receiver and your video to your tv if you have a receiver that does audio/video switching for hdmi, then you can put all to your receiver and video to your tv
Please do him an even bigger favor by telling him to go to monoprice for all his cabling needs. You can find component cables, hdmi cables, optical, digitial coax, and on for less than $5. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10235&cs_id=1023501&p_id=2182&seq=1&format=2
Nice. ^^^ Thank you, sir. I don't think he believes in ordering "online" but I guess I will let him know. He wants to get something done the same day, and I know he won't do that. All I'm saying is that he also doesn't have a VERY GOOD TV, either. Hey, thanks again, sir... what, do you work for them or something...? So... you're not going to post a you're doing it wrong image for me since I don't split the audio/video, are you?
Can you swing by my house? I have 1 Pioneer Plasma, 1 BR Player, Bose 3 in 1 and Direct TV box (2 HDMI, 1 S-Vid and other cables).....need to make sure its configured correctly. I'll buy you a 6 pack.
No, I don't work for them . I just hate seeing/hearing people paying absurdly large amounts of money for Monster cables or similar brands. One of the biggest rip-offs ever. Amazon also has cheap cables though many times, it is a 3rd party selling through Amazon. I've had experience ordering through both, and I can vouch for them.
I have an old pioneer receiver without any hdmi slots. plus it doesn't decode any of the newer HD codecs. i have a logitech remote, so when i switch components, it knows which TV input and receiver audio slot to switch.
I'll do it... for a case and a half... we're going to need like... two cables... in case we bend one... also... you want me to bring down all the footballs and baseballs from the roof? We'll do it! If you have time tomorrow, I got time, too. Tonight looks like a no... what with a Rockets' game and what not... no, but really, tonight I stay home with the girls...
you need a logitech remote. for video, send hdmi to your plasma, for audio, i believe that bose 321 has optical and digital coax cables, plug those to your bose 321 then get a logitech remote, you can tell it, when you watch bluray it will switch to the correct tv input and audio slot on your 321. its easy
If the deals get good enough, you may be in the market for some entry level high end gear - aka "mid-fi". Adcom, NAD, Rotel, Parasound, Outlaw and Marantz for receivers. Paradigm, Epos, Energy, Wharfdale, Triangle, Monitor and PSB for speakers. Hsu Research, SVS, Velodyne for subs.
Sí, Señor MásBolas. Sent you an email, marica. tinman, first we set it up, then we'll see about that remote.
Thanks for helping. Here's what I have available: Theater system: Along withe the red/white rca inputs I have digital opical video 2/bd in and an orange coaxial (but uses rca type) dvd in. Bluray out: Digital pcm/dts/dolby digital optical and an orange coaxial. Edit: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5yfvINH6WTw/learn/learningcenter/home/cables.html I found this info which helps explain it a little better. Digital audio interconnects A special subset of audio interconnects is digital audio cables. There are two types: optical and coaxial. Optical cables transmit digital audio signals as pulses of light. Toslink connectors — the connector type found on most optical cables — are often found on CD and DVD players, as well as home theater receivers. Some portable players (such as most MiniDisc and some CD portables) are equipped with mini-optical jacks. To connect a standard-sized component to a portable's mini-optical input (for recording to MiniDisc, for example), you'll need a special Toslink-to-mini-optical cable. To connect a CD portable's mini-optical output to an MD portable's mini-optical input, you'll need an optical cable with mini connectors on both ends. Because they use pulses of light rather than electrical impulses to transmit audio signals, optical cables are virtually impervious to interference. It's still important to look for a well-made cable, however: a quality fiber-optic element can prevent jitter, while solidly built connectors add durability. Coaxial digital cables look on the surface like standard analog RCA cables; however, you should avoid using a standard audio interconnect to transfer a coaxial digital signal. Cables engineered specifically to pass a digital signal provide 75-ohm impedance and wider frequency bandwidth, ensuring superior signal transfer.
Thanks. I went with the much recommended monoprice.com. I've used them before and agree they have great prices. I went to Fry's for an HDMI cable and the cheapest I could find was $19.99 for 3 ft. I found 6ft for about $5 bucks on monoprice. Buy.com has good prices too.
Faos, at the bargin bin area at the front, they have the $9.99 hdmi cables. they are wrapped in plastic bags. don't forget the optical cables. else you won't get any sound (if you receiver only does pass through hdmi).
I have a Mitsubishi projection TV. the model number is WS-55807. I don't think there are ny HDMI slots. All I see are the red/green/blue component slots, and S video slots.
I went there last week and did not see them. I remember them being there last year after I had already spent to much at Best Buy not knowing any better.
