Hindsight is 20/20. That still doesn't change the fact that at that time, it was definitely a correct trade that also allowed us to shed Swift from the team. You fail to consider that with Gay riding the pine, he may have never become the offensive scorer that he is today. There are simply too many factors for you to oversimplify it so much. Besides, how is Gay doing right now with the Grizzlies? Last time I check, they still aren't contenders.
EXACTLY. Kevin Pritchard weaseled his way into a higher draft spot knowing the Rockets had targeted him through a deal with the Twolves. It wasn't a particularly well guarded secret at the time that the Rockets were working on a deal to snag him with the Wolves pick. That's why I welcome all the misdirection Morey has been known to give recently with regards to draft and FA targets - seems he learned the value of secrecy. ....all that being said, Roy has basically turned into exactly what was predicted of him - a decent star with questionable reliability. If he is this injury prone as a young player, what is he going to be like later in his career?
Roy wasn't Pritchards pick. It was Steve Patterson's. The guy that built our championship team. Pritchard and Paul Allen wanted Morrison. Luckily for them Jordan took him off the table.
This is also probably the reason for DM being so damn secretive with his operation. Not that its a bad thing......
The kinds that land Hakeem, Ewing, Sampson, Duncan....all those dudes that win titles (well not Sampson, but still a Finals showing).
Yep, the Spurs four titles are forever tainted by their tank job. And our two titles are tainted by our tank job in 1984: http://reclinergm.wordpress.com/200...lottery-did-the-rockets-tank-to-get-olajuwon/
