If you read the OP's post he is complaining and hating on the american culture as well. He is just doing it a lot more politely...
This is less an American culture thing and more of a "Lord of the Flies" situation. The piling on McGrady has developed its own internal logic to the point that every video, image, or statement he makes is broken down like the Zapruder film to build the ongoing case that he is a horrible person and player. The stupid hysteria surrounding him makes me think that a lot of people around here love the drama more than they actually care about what benefits the team.
If you can read Chinese and you read Chinese news about TMAC, you should have noticed Chinese media treats TMAC much worse than US media. It is not about Culture my friend. As this mentioned, you ARE too naive.
Thanks for your clarification and education. I don't know about culture of America, that may or may not have anything to do with Tmac situation, I have no intention to require anyone to apologize for their culture, so don't worry, your Indian or American culture is well respected at least by me. Also, I have no intention to discuss politics, no bashing, no interests on any un-sports related topics. Just wanting to understand why a guy like Tmac being hated so much just by speaking the truth, that is all. Thanks again, and fyi, I have quite some Indian employees, I like them.
He didn't destroyed the team chemistry last season because he was in Chicago away from the team. Secondly, they were winning without him. Yeah, I'm all for Mcgrady proving it on the court and that what he should be focus on instead of running his mouth to the media. Otherwise, there would be no Mcgrady drama in the first place
Sure, i know. But if you follow rox, you know that those media are copying whatever was written from Chron.com, or even here. And you need to seperate the media and fan, I am not talking about media that hates on Tmac, I am talking about fans, normal fans that can't stand Tmac even if he wants to come back and contribute.
From General George S. Patton, http://www.turtletrader.com/speech.mp3 TMac is not a winner. All real Americans will not tolerate a looser.
A sports fan is inherently a little bit crazy. There's no other reason why one would be so emotionally invested in a team that doesn't give a damn about them. When you're already that fanatical about wins and losses you're not going to be entirely rational when it comes to the personal drama surrounding players. Look at one of the most "dramatic" players in the league: Kobe Bryant. Off the court he's actually a very low-key and private guy. But when it comes to laker drama everything gets blown out of proportion. He was blamed for the Shaq/Kobe feud. He was blamed for the Malone "hunting little Mexican girls" fiasco. He was demonized for his trade demand. He's considered selfish and arrogant. Despite being a very hard-working professional he was villified for years. It amazing that these players are considered unprofessional by fans who are absolutely nuts.
one more thing, I am a chinese and I also donot like to see McGrady in rox' uniform again based on how he behaved last season. PLEASE donot sound like you represent all the chinese. weak
Yes, he demanded a trade in the offseason and the world went freaking bonkers. He disagreed with the direction the franchise was going and asked to go elsewhere. That's totally within his right. And when the trades he asked for didn't happen that summer he showed up to camp, played in every game, and busted his ass. He did his job despite being unhappy, but that didn't stop the media circus. Imagine if the media and millions of fans were lambasting you for being dissatisfied at work. Don't like your coworkers? You're a drama queen. Want to work somewhere else? You're a quitter. I'm not going to cry tears for NBA stars, but I will not take part in the speculation and whining.
Yeah but didn't Kobe quit on his team during a playoff game? Purposely just passed the ball as soon as he touched it, to show his team couldn't do jack without him? b****ing at his teammates (which we've seen Tracy do as well) I think it was in reference to something Barkley might have said, not too sure. Just sayin, Kobe has had his fair share of BS. The difference? He had help finally and won another ring. Even with Bynum and Odom, he needed Pau on top of that. Comparing the two is r****ded I know. Just saying that Kobe is just as guilty as Tracy at some of the more no-so-popular things on and off the court.
The Rockets fans have long be dissatisfied and McGrady is now the embodiment of it. He was brought in to be a complimentary superstar to Yao but because of their mutual injury situations, we never saw their full potential and then when they were on the court together their teammates were less then stellar but both are supposed to be the top of the league in their positions. McGrady kind of brought the role on himself because he really isn't as media savvy as Kobe, isn't as ignored as many average stars and isn't as highly praised/forgiven/listened to as a potential next great like Lebron. So everything he says can be taken in a negative light and most of the Houston fan base have done such, ignoring times when he played through injuries or was literally the only guy showing heart on the team in games and focusing on how our one year with a solid team around Yao and McGrady hurt early is the first year we make out of round 1 of the playoffs.
Dear OP, please don't try to understand american culture and whatever you do, please don't imitate it. Your culture is just fine and your culture always sees the good in others, while american culture focuses on the bad. Also, in american culture, if you combine one idiot with a hidden identity and an internet forum, he will act like an incredible jackass and keep in most people in american don't act the same way in real life as they do on this bbs so please take it with a grain of salt and don't read too much into it.
It isn't just Tmac. People hate on KG even more around here and Kobe. Basically in america if someone is good at something and has more in life than they do, then they will hate that person and everything that person does. This is where the term "hater" was derived from. People in america are incredibly selfish and jealous individuals.
