My friend got a refurbished dell 42" hdtv plasma for about 1500. It is awesome. You have to wait for good coupons though.

I'm not much of a videophile, but keep an eye on the Fatwallet.com Hot Deals forum. I constantly see great deals on big TVs there.

The problem with places like Fatwallet is people see "plasma" and "big screen" and "cheap" and immediately buy. Some of the stuff you see posted on there are low end units that really aren't that great. People just see how cheap a plasma or lcd is and jump all over it, though. A couple of units from Dell and Gateway were selling like crazy on there in the past, and they were definitely lower end products that were probably worth exactly what people paid for them.

What would be a good BIG TV that's great for tv/movies, etc. but also solid for gaming? I think I am getting an XBOX 360 bundle for my birthday this month and want to upgrade. MY tv is 4+ years old - which doesn't seem that long, really, but makes it ancient.

I agree for the most part, DoD. But there is a lot of feedback in the actual Hot Deal thread for each model. Since Gummi has a limited budget, the Fatwallet forums could be a good source of knowledge for price vs quality.

I agree with you Xerobull. It's just that I've always been one to figure out what I need and then find the tv's I liked based upon research, then say, "ok, this is what I can spend - which of those fits the bill?" I can't say "I've got $2000, oh look $1999.99 - I'll take it". :)

Don't get screwed over Gummi - you'll be burning jersey money!! :D
