Simply put, Francis' game invites criticism. First, he doesn't play PG like a traditional PG. What people don't seem to get is that there are only two PGs in the NBA right now that play PG like a true pure PG and are better than he is. So unless Jason Kidd or Steve Nash (although Steve Nash is borderline because he's a nice scorer too) were coming to the Rockets or Magic you shouldn't even talk about that in a negative light because you won't find a better pure PG and it would make zero sense to move him to the two. That talk won't ever stop, there's really no point arguing about it.

Second, he is mistake prone so he's a dumb basketball player with a super low b-ball IQ (whatever that is). I've heard people say that they won't accept Francis as a player until he cuts down on his turnovers, well that's like saying I won't accept T-Mac as a player until he shoots less than 20 shots a game. Those two things will never happen so dudes who think like that might as well root for another team; Francis will always turn the ball over so I guess people will always say he's too dumb to learn how to avoid turnovers. That's fine.

Third, he plays an entertaining style of basketball that gets confused for a losing style of basketball. I say it gets confused because Magic Johnson played an entertaining style of basketball too, Magic showboated, he preferred a behind the back pass over a simple pass plenty of times. Magic turned the ball over tons too because of those bad decisions, even more than Francis did, difference between the two was that Magic was a much better player, much better players surrounded him, and he won like no other star PG in league history. Another difference is that Magic made most of his plays with the pass while Francis and almost every other elite PG in the league make most of their plays with scoring.

Fourth, there are plenty out there who don't like the current state of the NBA and think it's full of selfish show boaters, tattoos, thugs, street ball, baggy shorts etc. Francis isn't the prototype for that player (AI is sadly) but he fits in that description so you'll have plenty of haters until people learn to accept that.

Finally fans to need have somebody to blame, Francis was the easiest when he was here, Yao and Van Gundy are the easiest now a days. We can ignore all other factors like the overall talent on the team which is much better right now than it was when Francis was around yet the Rockets still have a lot of work to do.

That was long, just my two cents though.

Uh, dude, I wasn't the FIRST person that called you out in this thread. If you had actually TAKEN the time to read the WHOLE thread, you would have seen on the first page, this post:

And then on the 2nd page, there was this post:

And then ANOTHER post, pgabriel, on that same page that is CALLING YOU OUT!!!

The first 2 posts were posted on the 3rd of January and the last one on the 4th. Considering how you always RUSH in to defend Francis and that THREE people have called you out and you remained conspicuosly (sp?) absent from the thread, I think it was a safe assumption that you would remain absent.

But instead of addressing these THREE posts that called you out, you would rather go ahead and bring out the old "" on me. That really "put me in my place", LOL.

Awwwwwwww....somebody doesn't think SF walks on water and tries to present a tongue-in-cheek opposing balancing view. So when all else fails, let's make a personal attack at them. How convenient. Since your memory appears to be very short, you'll just have to be reminded again that my comments on Francis came to a screeching halt after the trade. Or, is it convenient for you to have a mental lapse on this as well?

You've had my viewpoint explained to you enough in the past but for the record...he's an above average athlete for an NBA player and he plays the game with passion. Nothing more. He's a highlight reel player with a statistical anomaly.

I purchased and kept NBALP the year before Francis arrived and had to endure him going 1 on 1 (usually 1 on 3) for far longer than I want to remember. He was a Rocket so I wanted him to succeed. But along the way, I figured out (in spite of his numbers) that he never would. His court sense is in the bottom half (maybe even 1/3) of all currently starting NBA PG's.

Personal opinions can have a wide lattitude from one person to the next. The difference between us is that you'll look at the success of the current Magic and conclude it was/is all Steve. I'll look at it and conclude that they have 60% of a #7 WC seed, Hill returned to near All Star ability, they had a #1 pick, Jameer Nelson fell into their laps, they signed Hedo, Garrity played 22 total minutes last season.....they're in the East...how could they fail????

Please tell me for this current season, what distinguises Francis from Gilbert Arenas?

Could it be possible that after the glitter has rubbed off, the Magic fan board is asking that same question?

I know you weren't the first idiot, its just the smug ass attitude. "I guess he won't show up".

And again, don't flatter yourself I've had plenty Francis arguments with Solid. Yeah you're right you were the third person so it finally got on my nerves. It hillarious how you always claim others are smart asses. You need to look in the mirror son.

Is Parker better than Francis? Maybe? Maybe he's taking advantage of playing on a great team like Beno Ulrich? I didn't know Lebron James was a pure point guard or a point guard.

He's not a pure, traditional, classic point guard, but he plays point guard, you won't find many that play that position better than him so he's a point guard. People just don't like that he's a better scorer than he is a passer, so what? You could say that about Allen Iverson, Baron Davis, Dwayne Wade, Kirk Hinrich, Stephon Marbury, Gilbert Arenas, Andre Miller, Mike Bibby, Chauncey Billups, Jason Terry, Jason Williams, maybe even Sam Cassell and Tony Parker. The fact that those guys make more plays with scoring instead of passing shouldn't really matter as long as they make those plays well and at the right time.

Is that depressing to all you guys who wish everyone played PG like Steve Nash and Jason Kidd? I know it was to the guy who wrote that PG is dead article a few weeks ago, and it will be to the guy who writes the next QB is dying article a few years from now. Sports evolve. Those who don't like it should build a time machine.

I’m sorry I didn’t read your whole post. I didn’t realize you were the fourth person obsessing with me. I just glanced through the thread.

    Internet tough guys?

You mean like the guys who brag about their spelling and punctuation. Or do you mean the guys who pile on posters when they are called out.

Let me know when you guys start the pgabriel fan club, I might make an appearance.

I see you’ve erased your post now. That’s great because we all know you’re so above it all.

When you do that (glance through a thread), you can look dumb.

No, they are the ones who act like they are going to kick someone's ass but they do it behind a keyboard. Too bad you can't come through my computer ala Tron and set me straight. Also helps if said Internet Tough Guy has a "chip on his shoulder".

I figured you would be too busy with your constant appearances of meetings of the Steve Francis fan club in which you are the lifelong president to join our meetings.[sarcasm]But yes, me and the others have our discussions on this board revolve around you. Why didn't we think of doing a fan club in your honor before?[/sarcasm]

No, once again your reading skills are lacking. I said that you weren't worth the time - at least for me to keep the post I originally had up.

Believe me, pgabriel, I can get PERSONAL with the best of them here and by all rights I should get even nastier with you than I have. However, to do that would be to play right into your hands.

Honestly pgabriel, who obsesses about who? I believe you called everyone "hating hypocrites" the other day when referring to Francis. If anything, you're stalking the entire board. Get over yourself.

These guys can talk noise for themselves. You don't have to keep coming in and protecting them everytime one gets into with me especially when they call me out in the thread.
