I don't think Steve and Cat will need any defending after the Magic played D, shot the ball well, and trashed the Sonics by 18 in Orlando tonight. That game showed the potential of this Magic club; the previous 5 showed the depths for this team. Where do they really lie? Likely somewhere in between.

Tell the fan board Steve was only 2 turnovers short of a triple double.

Why should he? Sooner or later, somebody like you or Fegwu would be sure to make a note of it in order to salvage whatever solace you can after he plays well.

And scored 27 in the 2nd half to beat one of the NBA's top teams by 18 points, after being down by 11 in the first half. Let's see McGrady do that and we'll talk. And no, the San Antonio "comeback" doesn't count.

Why doesn't it count? We were down 10 with a minute left to play. You guys came back and won after being down 11 in the first half (against a team on its last game of a 6 game trip). Explain why that comeback, which will probally never be duplicated ever, "doesn't count".

Well then the answer is obvious...just tell the fan board based upon the SEA game, Francis is better than McGrady. That ought to shut them up.

And your answer to the fan board is to remind them that Francis is a 1st Rnd Hall of Famer, right?

Shutting the ORL fan board up...mission accomplished.

Gater is like Debbie Downer when talking about Steve

Poster: Man, Steve is really helping the Magic improve this year

Gater: Its not Steve, its all Grant Hill [music] wah, waaaaah [/music]

Poster: Did you see the game Steve had to help break the losing streak

Gater: Yeah, did you see those eight turnovers [music] wah waaaaah [/music]

Uh, yeah I really meant that...Sarcasm is knocking on your door, and it desperately wants you to grasp it.

Yes, I luv how the day after the Magic get beat there is a post about how bad SF is and how the Magic aren't going anywhere but the day after they beat a high caliber team there is nothing???

Granted they have been an up and down team but SF is the reason they won last night. If you can't be happy for him when he plays well then stop your crying, he's not a Rocket anymore...

I showed up in the Bulls game thread for the third loss of the losing streak, so don't flatter yourself and think I won't show up on a message board to talk about a player win or lose that I like.

Listening to Rome, interesting Steve Francis quote

"Over the last 5 or 6 games people have been saying that this is the worst team since sliced bread"

    :D

I went on one of those boards earlier today and one dude said if Francis played like this every game we wouldn't complain so much about him, some agreed with him. What?! Is this how it was last season on cluchfans? The guy has to play out of his mind to get any kind of respect, he plays an average game (for him) and the Magic win and they win in spite of him, he plays an average game and the Magic lose and they lose because of him. Doesn't make any sense.

The Magic success and failures are on him and Grant Hill, Grant Hill the scorer and the guy who settles things down, he's not Grant Hill the playmaker anymore that job is still on Francis. I'm not sure if people should even call him a point forward anymore, right now he has enough athleticism and know how to score efficiently but not enough to rebound and make plays as well as he used to. In that way I think Steve Francis helps him way more than most will give him credit for, he's doing a good job out there.

Anyway, one thing I did read and I completely agreed with the Magic' fans is how bad of a coach Johnny Davis is, I remember saying that the Magic's biggest weakness was coaching in NBA prediction thing we did here. They complain about lineups and his extrememly laid back, all offense, no defense mentalitly and how it rubs off on the players. How he would prefer Pat Garrity over Dwight Howard in close fourth quarters because Garrity could shoot, all he's telling his team is that they need to outscore the opposing team to win. I think he's on a one year contract though so I wouldn't expect him to be there next season even if the Magic make the playoffs and do something there.

Its amazing how fast that mentality has infected those fans. Do these guys even remember what their team did last season.

I can understand being frustrated with the way they play sometimes but they now have a competitive team and its no telling how good they can be. They hit their first bad stretch and the fans turn. I guess Francis just brings it out of people. Lord knows we've seen it here.

A poster actually wrote yesterday on this board wrote that the Francis team here was crap. Now come on, I know they could be frustrating, but crap. I thought that was reserved for teams who barely win thirty games. Statements like that are ridiculous and just flat out hateful. And I just don't get it.

That mentality has infected almost every fan, and is now being played out w/respect to Yao and Van Gundy, and will soon infect about McGrady too, which I think is part of what Feigen's article yesterday was about.

I think that was me, and I didn't refer to just Cuttino and Francis. It included crap like Moochie, Mo, Maloney, Cato and our assorted CBA scrubs. I also meant Rudy's iso offense and our complete lack of chemistry. That team was going nowhere and I did think then (before I joined the BBS) and now that it was crap. They never made the playoffs until we had Yao for 2 years, and then we barely made the 7th seed.

What most Magic fans (who are complaining about Steve/Cat) need to remember is that they were the WORST team in the league last year. They need to shut the hell up and be grateful that this year's team is at least fun to watch, not to mention that they already have 16 wins where the team last year had 21 all season. And maybe it would help if Orlando wasn't bottom 3 in the league in attendence. It's a lot easier to play with passion when the fans show a little passion in return.
