Pool table. That way you can impress the chain-smoking pool hall chicks.

    That's what I'd do.

But... if not... spend it on a pool table I guess.

Our family had a nice slate pool table for years. We played it everyday when we first got it...once every couple of weeks a year later...then barely ever played it once we had it for a couple of years. I just don't think pool tables are that great of a purchase. They usually just turn into something that people put stuff on, or only get played when you have company.

The heated pool is an interesting choice. When we lived in our house with a pool, we had it heated. We used it pretty regularly in the winter when it was cold. We also had the attached hot tub, so we used that a lot as well. The same thing happened, though...after a couple of years with a heated pool, you just don't use it much anymore.

The television is a pretty solid choice. You'll most probably use it everyday. You won't get tired of it and stop using it...plus if you move...you can easily take it with you compared to a pool heater which you can't take with you and a pool table which is a hard thing to move.

I vote for the TV. I think you'll get a bunch more use per dollar spent on it than any of the other two.

My Dad has a pool table and when he first got it we played all the time, but after a few months it became a place for my mom to put laundry. Go for the TV

I must be getting old too..

I would invest it somewhere else or pay down some debts.. I think people get too caught up in buying "stuff".

    Another vote for ping pong.

Save the rest of the money and travel with the family down the road. You will create more great memories than swimming in December, or having another tv.

Pay off your interest bearing bills. You'll be glad ya did.

If it was me, I would just put it in the bank. Ya don't HAVE to spend it now.

Thanks for the suggestions. (Note: I did not get this money from the sale of world series tickets. If I had tickets I'd be at the game, not counting the money)

I like the suggestions of Drugs and 2 girls but couldn't I do drugs and 2 girls on the pool table... I did years ago without $2,000. (Not to mention the wife and kids I have now)

I have plenty of room in the game room for an 8" table without any cramped shots. I also have a long time friend who lives down the street and when we lived together years ago and had a table we played all the time so I have someone near me that also likes to play.

I'd like the pool heater but I won my friends pool from him in a poker game a year back and as it stands now I just call him up and tell his wife to start heating my pool I'm coming over with the kids and they heat it right up. I don't have to pay for the gas that way. (This same friend's brother lost his wife to me in a poker game but that story could be a whole other thread).

Then there is the TV. If I could get a 52" RCA DLP for $899 I'd do that and keep looking for a cheaper table so I could fit both in the budget. Where can I get that deal?

I asked my pops about it and he said he used a 400 gift certificate on top of the coupon. What a character...

My best bet would be http://www.fatwallet.com/c/18/ or (techbargains.com) and checking out Black Friday (Thanksgiving weekend) deals.

My Deckard you have a surprisingly dirty mind. Are you attempting to live vicarously through Voodoopope?

"Dirty" is in the mind of the beholder. And I don't need to live vicariously through anyone. I had a very nice wild and crazy life during the '60's and '70's, thank you very much. :)

I was trying to be humorous. VooDooPope sounds like he doesn't need any ideas from me, lol!

If it was me I would pay off debts, or probably invest it. With Christmas coming up that might be a good choice as well. Picking from the things you listed, I'd probably say the pool table, only because it sounds like the rest of your game room is set up already. The pool heater will cost you more money, and the prices on flat screen tv's is constantly going down.

I have to agree that once you get a pool table you may be using it every day, but eventually you'll probably be using it only when company is over. Be careful that you don't make this mistake.
