I'm here to tell you that 23 isn't too young to start school for a career. After high school, I went to college for 2 years and then into the Air Force for 4 years. At 24, I started college again and got my degree. I'm comfortably retired now(at least I was comfortable last year ), so you shouldn't consider yourself in a panic mode. I like Dei's physial therapy idea. That should get you the money you want and you might get to rub elbows with some athletes. My brother was a PE major in college & I couldn't believe the amount of medicine he had to know.
Damn, that sucks OGKashMoney. Have you considered getting a PhD, and becoming a professor of Political Science? They make around $160k a year, and they have nice schedules. To the OP, a degree in Pharmacy will start you off at about $75k and move you up to $85k after 2 years. Whenever you get stressed, just remember how much money you will be making when it's all said and done. TSU, TSU, TSU! Saw it already. I love basketball, I played it for over 6 hours a day during the summer time when I was a kid. My jumper was always wet, but because I was short and skinny, everyone always said I'd never be a basketball player. Practice makes perfect, and I have a pretty damn good work ethic. If you are interested in criminal justice, look into an agent job with the government for one of their agencies. My best friend has been an agent with the ATF ever since he graduated from SHSU w/ a criminal justice degree. He makes close to 6 figures with outstanding benefits.
i've learned a big lesson...if i had a chance to pick another career, I would picked something that I would love to do instead of picking a career that would give me security/money. so pick something that you know you will be able to do for rest of your life.
I have a BS in Electrical Engineering right now. I am thinking about going for my masters, but I'm not sure what I want to study. Studying law is an option for me, but I'm not sure how difficult it is or how it pays. So can you please elaborate a bit farther on your post and how being a patent lawyer works well with someone with an engineering back ground? Thanks in advance
You laugh, but it actually is a great time to get into the industry. I would much rather have my bonuses be low when I am just starting out than when I am a VP or MD where it would hurt a lot more. Certain areas of finance may be in trouble, but investment banking is safe.
really? can you go deeper in detail... what did he have to go through before he became an agent? thnks anything you know would help
how many years do you have to go to school for PT? my ex was real big on me looking into it cause shes studying nursing... anyone a PT or looking into it?
Make Sexy-Time explosions with Camels and Goats. If you can do two Camels at once, it can be some good money.
Orthodontist. Bending wire for half a million a year. Its like stealing money. Oh, but you DO have to work 3.5 days a week. Of course, this is after about 7/8 years of school, and a highly competitive process to get into ortho school, but you can practice dentistry as you try to get into ortho.
$50-60k is not very much money if that's where you want to be in 10 years. Between school loans, 20% taxes, 10% retirement savings, you'll be living on $32-37k. It sounds like a lot, when you are young. It gets wiped out easily with one serious illness, accident, or layoff. If you plan on saving up for a 10-20% down payment on a house, you'll be living in a cheap apartment or forced to live with your parents. Whatever career you look at, I would aim for a higher salary but in something you love.
find something you love. + sports medicine/physical therapy... usually requires 4 years of an approved undergrad B.S. in a science, plus 2 years in master's program. health industry is recession-proof. there's also the p.t. assistant, which is less schooling, but it's still a solid job for your background. you could even go get the P.T. Assistant job, work some, then return for your full-fledged P.T. degree. + communication major... and then go on to start doing tv/broadcast stints in towns covering local schools... you have the power to move up. don't listen to those people who are just throwing out "mad money" jobs. the wrong job will wear on you to the point where it doesn't matter how much you make. i'm not trying to piss on your parade, but dental school and pharmacy school are VERY competitive, and if you aren't coming from a higher-tier 4 year university, it's a rough road. good luck!
Process technician (plant operator). Easily pays 60k a year and overtime is plentiful. Most make over 100k. I'm in USW union, get all the great benefits and a 5 dollar copay and 3 dollar prescription. 1.60 to my dollar 401k match plus a pension. 2 year degree from san jac or just apply to a plant. I was hired with no experience just testes well. 33/hr
