True, the herbicide in most weed and feed kills broadleaf weeds, which includes trees. Granted, it's unlikely that an established tree will get killed by the herbicide but it's certainly not good for it. Read the fine print.
lawn care? Mow it on Saturday, then hope it doesn't rain so you don't have to mow it next Saturday...
That is my method too.....also don't use that fertilizer stuff either, that just makes it grow faster as well.
-THREAD JACK- Anyone have a Honda brand mower? I use aToro Proline and have had very good luck with it, but it's on it's last leg right now and I have been putting off buying a new one for almost a year now... I see that Toro is starting to use some Honda engines on top of there normal Kawasaki brand.. so I was thinking if the price is much less I would look into a Honda brand mower over the Toro... anyone have any good or bad stories to share about the Honda 2 strokes? Thanks...
If you have roundish dead spots in your San Augustine you probably have a fungal infection called Brown Patch. It's very common in Houston because of our high humidity. Go to Home Depot , look in the grass section next to the fertilizers and there will be a fungicide that will treat brown patch. It will say Brown Patch on the package in big letters. ( I hope this isn't my 2000th post, It's so mundane. I need to go back to the p0rn thread.)
used to do it once every 10 days ..i cut my grass long but since my house has been on the market, ive gone to doing it every Sat morning at 7am (my neighbors love me)
I got one and it is fantastic......got it at Home depot, was a bit pricey but man it mulches, or bags, and has 3 speeds and is the easiest thing I have ever started. Oh, and it mows beautifully too. DD
I think their in house brand is MTD. I bought a cheap one (under $250) about 6 years ago and it is stilll running strong. And I am really bad about rememebering to do maintenance. Starts on the first pull, mulches or bags. They use Briggs and Stranton motors.
best tip i have for lawn care... add the weed n' feed or fertilizer of your choice early in the year. by now, it's probably too late. tried that this year and haven't had any problems with weeds or dead spots...and i don't water.
