I heard some scratching last night. Sounded like one of Rocky Raccoon's pals was returning to the scene of the crime and was pissed off to find everything sealed tight. I inspected everything this morning and the soffit vents are fine and there is no damage. The trap was empty this morning. I'm off to play 18 holes at Memorial Park today. I hope I drive a ball from the teebox into a raccoon's skull. F*** the Raccoons!!! ROXRAN...let's go huntin'!
Kill me now. The scratching I heard that night and last night was a raccoon trying to get out not in. I ripped open the next sofit vent my handyman friend and I were going to replace, and I baited and put the trap on the patio right underneath it. Handyman friend will be over tomorrow and we will rip out the other two soffits that are left and re-do all three that are remaining. After that, if I still hear scratching, I will have to put my trap in the attic. This too shall pass.....soon I hope!
Last night I heard the critter try to exit through the new soffit vents, and he worked his way around the perimeter of the house. Since I had ripped out one of the three that needed to be replaced, I'm hoping he hightailed it out of there last night. This morning, we replaced the three remaining soffit vents and double layered all three. We got up on the roof, inspected it inch by inch, and found no holes at all (roof is 3 years old). I spread the rest of my cayenne pepper out at various points on top of the roof, and I put my trap up in the attic and baited it. So.... If the varmint split overnight, there is no way he can get in now. If the varmint is still up there, the only way out for him is to crawl into the trap, and it is baited with plenty of dry cat food. I will check the trap tomorrow morning, but if he gets caught in it, we will definitely hear it. He's been coming out around 1-1:30 AM. I checked all around the attic when I set the trap and did not see or smell any feces. So there you have it. The endgame is upon us, thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Babygirl my hunting and dance partner came by last night around 10 PM. She has been gently yet faithfully busting my balls over the raccoon situation for the past week. She is a barrel of laughs. We drank scotch and hung out well past 2 AM last night. Heard something running across the roof but no action in the attic or soffit vents like Thursday and Friday night. No noise at all from the trap in the attic either. I think Rocky and family have left the premisis. I will leave the trap up there one more night, but if I don't catch anything then I think that is it, thank you buddha!!
