This can be accomplished with ease.

Seriously though, can you guys tell me the best way to remove the carpeting in my car for the bleach treatment beneath? Should I bust out the exact-o knife, or...?

And what about under the seat? Anthing to be done?

It is a laborious task but unbolt the drivers seats. Remove the back seat and and the trim pieces and remove the carpet and air dry the thing. If you can put it in direct sunlight it would help, Maybe hang it over the fence so both sides dry and get air. Sunlight will help to kill the bacteria that is causing the smell. Lysol the hell out of it and if you have a hand wet dry vac try that. Let the inside air dry out also. If worse comes to work buy new interior carpet. I have no clue how much it would cast. Maybe 500 to a G. Better than buying a new ride.

I think there are some people that could do it for you and not charge you an arm and a leg. We used to use them when I worked at Enterprise for the cars that came back with REAL BAD odors. One guy left a bunch of dead fish in the backseat for a week in the middle of August.

There are some places around the I-10/Beltway (west) that could do it, but I don't remember the name of the place we used. Maybe codell knows.

This is the 2nd time I have had my car take on rain water. I do not think u have to replace anything. I used a wet/dry vacuum and febreze. I am letting it air dry now. The smell is gone. And I bought a few air fresheners just to be safe.

There will be some kick plate and sill plate trim panels to remove. The center console too. Those are pretty easy, just be gentle or youll break all the plastic tabs and have to buy new trim.

The seats can be a little tricky. Youll need a good socket set and torque bar (you have to torque the bolts to specs when you put the seats back in).

If you see any ECM or SRS modules that need to be removed, I'd leave it to an expert.
