you need to re-read my thread. in all seriousness, just try to ignore the balloon. you can't really do anything about it. it's her stuff, not yours.
You don't want to have a bad conscience do you? It has only lasted a month, because you despise it. If you didn't care, it would have been spent a few days after her birthday.
Where is the fun in that. I say gather up a lynch mob complete with staplers, staple removers pencils and scissors. Make a train thru the office and say stuff like "Death to the Balloon" or "We'll show you Happy Birthday" or some other menacing phrases. Go to her Cube and Draw the line in the sand (or Carpet) make sure to cheese it up as much as possible, and make threats like "Either the Balloon goes or you go" or some other tough guy movie stuff. If she doesn't get the message at least you guys in the mob will have a little fun.
This is what I think you should do... Find out who's b-day is coming up next in the office and buy several balloons for them. Then the attention w**** will get to be annoyed, just like you are now.
Gripes like these make me want to leave the corporate world behind and open my own company.............save the contractor jokes. Why can’t everyone just mind their own business and work? Dont be annoyed by things like this, it'll just make you think negative.
just an update on the situation...over the weekend my partner in crime made a hole in the balloon (she was in the office really early on a saturday) the balloon was noticeably deflated today i was tempted to squeeze it to push more of the helium out but i will let it be. i havent seen ms attention w**** yet today to see her reaction to it but what made me laugh was a new employee asked her if it was her birthday last thursday because of her balloon and cards (when the company celebrated all of the october birthdays) and she said no it wasnt but she loves her balloon and even though there were "haters who didnt like it because they say its distracting" she was going to keep it there and that she had no where to put it at her apt. really no place in an apt to put a balloon? sigh at least it will all be over soon.
