Maybe this is what's going through her mind (warning, nerdy D&D webcomic ahead).

I'm proud of you for just asking man. :)

Man fatally shot at Metro bus garage in Houston

    By KEVIN MORAN
    Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle

AA tire maintenance worker at Metro's Hiram Clarke facility was shot 18 times and killed by a friend and fellow worker after the two feuded for days over a woman, the men's supervisor said.

The shooting occurred before midnight Wednesday when one man who had been transferred to another work site because of the dispute returned to the Hiram Clarke site and opened fire, said Dave Renfro, service supervisor for Bridgestone Firestone, which holds the contract to supply and maintain Metro tires. He did not know the type of weapon used.

"Some of the mechanics heard the shots but nobody saw it happen,'' said Renfro, who declined to identify the men before talking to his superiors.

The dead man and the shooter worked for Leal Solutions, a subcontractor for Bridgestone Firestone in the Metro maintenance operation, Renfro said.

The dead man had worked at Metro for about a year and the shooter worked about four years, Renfro said.

Police are not releasing any names in the case, but do say both men were in their mid-20s and were fathers to small children..

Renfro said he understoon from police reports that the shooter later killed himself.

The first rule of asking a girl out on a first date is not to ask for a specific DAY. Just ask "Hey, would you like to go out some time?" This way, the day is open to anything, and she really is cornered into telling you if whether or not she'll go out with you, or just doesn't want to. Trust me, she's got no choice but to go out with you and find out how good you will be to her. Unless she REALLY REALLY doesn't want to go out with you and then you just DON'T ASK HER AGAIN or you'll have her hating you.

Does anyone disagree with that?

OPTIMISM. Now I really like finalsbound as my friend. But not DESPERATION, though. He's not going to ask another 26 times, is he? C'mon, now... I like that he can be optimistic, but not DESPERATE.

DUDE. It's "BUILD" her a cake.

    Preston,

I hate to hear that - I was hoping you would get better results. However, I'm proud of you for taking that step of asking. I would give it a couple of days and act like you have no interest in her. Then maybe by mid next week, you can try again. If her response is the same as what it was last night, I would forget about her and move on.

Oh and be happy that you are in college and not married. Because working in the real world and having all the damn responsibilities and **** associated with a family sucks...not all the time, but a lot of the time.

SwoLy, come on now, all I'm saying is he needs to have some PERSEVERANCE. 26 attempts spread out over 2-3 years is NOT that bad. Preston truly likes this girl, (well, LOVES I guess), and he should not stop until she quits being friendly and tells him to **** off.

That being said, I gave some bad advice last night, don't get a w****, just play it cool. Sorry, I was hopped up on energy drinks.

  :) :p :(

I'm guessing you didn't bother reading through the thread, but I digress.

Either way, strong words coming from someone with 90% of their posts whining ad-nauseum about the Bush Administration. Can we please get more of those? They never get repetitive or anything...

That is definitely beyond optimism and into stalker territory. As his Level 30 thief or ranger character he might be able to pull that off though.

OK, now... someone will have to explain the entire "Level this" or "thief or ranger" that CHARACTER and gaming crap to me.

I have NEVER EVER played an online game... :( WTH am I missing? Chicks with glasses? Computer Knowledge? Gaming experience?

I know we're trying to talk to Preston in his language, but... heck, I didn't know you could bring the online thing to real life in order to ask a chick out to the movies... :D

Well, what we do is wear badges with our character's class, level, and attributes.
