i'm absolutely serious...maybe credibility isn't the right word...but she hasn't even been moderately fair to the administration...she assumes the worst and then writes based on those assumptions. she's done it since the day he took office.

different circumstances altogether...i see where you see the similarity...but the world and this conflict is much different than it was in 1991. i don't see foreign affairs taking a backseat to a recession in the next election, mostly because i think we're pulling out of the economic slump...or at least on our way. when americans are more concerned with foreign affairs than domestic they typically vote republican.

All I'm saying is that you can never tell how an election's going to turn out 22 months before it happens. If so, Bush would've won a second term or Clinton wouldn't have won re-election.

I am hoping all Republicans are as confident as you though.

i'm ultimately not all that confident, because i agree with you that it's way too early to judge an election this far out....my response was a bit bold, i agree, but it was a response to equally bold posts on the other side of the argument that "history is repeating itself." i don't believe it's that simple.

You're going to contradict someone who got their information from this BBS?!

CNN had a Gallup rep on today: 60% (FWIW)

I believe the point he was trying to make is the comparison of the two. Not that Rush is unbiased, but that Thomas is just as biased as Rush, except towards the other side.

Well... I agree with Jeff. I couldn't care less about what Rush Limbaugh or Helen Thomas or any other highly paid news reporter thinks. Just because they got jobs covering people in power does not make them the most enlightened people in history.

As to the 8 years of prosperity under Clinton that pagabriel speaks so fondly of....remember that it was built on 2 things:
    1. Overinflated value for tech stocks which have never turned a profit...that wasn't going to last forever.
    2. Accounting scandals that were going on under Clinton's watch and came to light once Bush took office.

He is the perrenial winner of The Audience Share Award. Doesn't that count for something? Hell yeah!

No one is unbiased. Rush's excellence is that he was the first (and maybe still the only) one to own up to that reality.

Do you critics of him really think you are "outing" him here? :)

Let's get one thing straight. Rush is NOT a journalist. Period. He is an entertainer and a talk show host. He is the equivalent of Leno or Jon Stewart, though not quite as funny or entertaining.

He isn't some expert on politics. He isn't a REPORTER. He isn't a journalist. He is just the host of some show that people listen to on the radio.

As for Thomas, the opinion of a journalist is interesting and noteworthy if only because of her long-standing coverage of the white house, but it isn't WORTH anything more than anyone else in the media, Limbaugh included.

You can agree with either of them. It doesn't make either of their opinions superior to anyone else's including our own. They just have a mic in front of them and we don't.

The fact that Rush or Thomas agrees with you doesn't make your opinion better than anyone else.

Yeah, Clinton was the biggest Day Trader in the world, its his fault tech stocks were overvalued.
What was the DJIA when Clinton took office? What was it in 96?
