One of the more impressive things about Keenum is that he NEVER looks to the sideline for a play call. He is a true quarterback in every sense of the word, and is in no way a product of the system. He reads defenses and calls plays. He goes through his progressions. On the game winning QB draw against Tech, he called his own audible. Not even Tim Tebow can be trusted by Urban Meyer to call his own audible on a game-deciding play in arguably the most important game of the season. (What am I saying? Tebow looks to the sideline on practically every other play ... and I say that as a huge Florida fan).

Keenum is head and shoulders above the competition. If UH were a BCS school, this wouldn't even be close ... he ought to be running away with the award.

This is a joke. Texas is one of the top teams in the nation (allegedly), but McCoy in no way is having as good as season as he did last year. Even you have to agree with that. In UT's biggest tests this year, McCoy routinely overthrew receivers and failed to help his team distance themselves from their opponents.

    v. Tech
    24-34 205 yrds, 1 TD and 2 picks

    v. OU
    21-39 127 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT

    v. OSU
    16-21 171 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTS
(they also ran the ball more in this game)

overall, Colt McCoy is having an average year with pedestrian stats. UT should be thankful enough that they will most likely be going to the National Championship with the relatively easy schedule that they have played (only recently has UT looked like a contender). Thats the only reward Colt should be getting. Alas, faulty public perception and national media will most probably give McCoy more credit than he's do. If anything, Jordan Shipley is a more legit Heisman candidate than McCoy.

Thank you. Moes obviously has only been watching one of the two QBs he was talking about. ND's two losses were both close, and against @Michigan (he actually scored to go up, but our defense let them march back down and score to end it) and USC. Clausen has led multiple 4th quarter comebacks this year.

I'm not saying Clausen should be the Heisman, I was just pointing out it was dumb to argue that his numbers weren't as good as other QBs when he's been better than the guys at the top of your list.

Also, no Golden Tate love??!? :)

What big game has Clausen ever won?

I didn't say anything about Clausen's numbers. They are great numbers, I just think he's not capable of winning when it matters.

Clausen had the game winning drive this year vs. Michigan State, Purdue, and Washington so far this year.

In the two games he's lost, he led the drive that gave ND the lead with little time left, but Michigan marched down and scored to win it. The other game was USC, in which by all means he didn't complete the last pass of the game. I will give you that. But he's also been playing without his best WR (Floyd - back this weekend!) since the Michigan State game.

I'm not sure if you just don't feel like those were "big games", versus a Texas Tech or Oklahoma State -- but scoring on Tech's D (unfortunately) isn't that hard. Okalahoma State's better, but I bet they aren't even on the same tier as a USC's D is.

Neither Colt nor Tebow right now belong in the discussion when you're talking about the Heisman trophy. Right now, they are sitting, AT BEST, at 4th and 5th place in the race. To me, right now, if you aren't looking at Keenum, Clausen, or Ingram to win the award, you either have your head up your ***, or are just a complete UT or Florida fanboy.

I've never been impressed by Clausen, especially when he's got such a talented group of receivers in Tate and Floyd, but then is so lackluster over the course of the game that is forced to lead "comebacks" against the likes of Washington.

If he would have beaten USC, I might have changed my mind... but I felt he had little shot of firing that game-winning strike, and he didn't.

    I just don't think he's got a clutch mentality.

Sorry for the double post, but I just want to make a point.

    QB#1
    Att/Comp
    190/312

    TD/Int
    20/3

    Yds
    2365

    Rating
    143.8

    QB #2
    Att/Comp
    198/275

    TD/Int
    15/8

    Yds
    1977

    Rating
    144.6

QB#2 is Colt McCoy. But who is QB#1 you ask? JERROD JOHNSON from Texas A&M. The fact that Colt is in the running for the Heisman, and Johnson is not is a travesty. Johnson has thrown for 400 more yards, thrown for 5 MORE Touchdowns, and thrown 5 LESS interceptions on a much more inferior team. How do you Colt fans explain that??

See this is the kind of bull **** that I don't like posted. You're right about Colt... but saying that Texas should be thankful for an easy schedule and that Texas is "allegedly" an elite team.... Only recently? I think having the best defense in the league for the whole season so far plus still a consistent offense game-to-game should be considered an elite team... I mean, unless you're a hater... you should realize that UT deserved to be in the top 3 this whole season...

I think what you should be happy about is the fact that your Coogs are at #15 right now... it might be awhile before that ever happens again....

I think they also determine the winner based on the number of wins the team has...

UT has deserved to be in the top 3, mostly because they haven't lost, but not because they've beat any good teams.

Unfortunately for UT, this is a really down year for the Big 12 overall... not their fault, but that's the reality of the situation.

If people want to hold that against them, I really can't blame them.

I guess we'll find out the answer in the Rose Bowl.

I don't think McCoy should win the Heisman this year, but I do find it odd that UH fans are talking smack about a weak schedule for UT.

I don't think it qualifies as smack.

    Just pointing out the obvious.

If it were smack I'd be saying UH's schedule is harder than UT's or something.

But you can't fault UH for its scheduling this year... the part they have control of they scheduled as good of teams for as they possibly could have, and the majority of them were not even in their own building.

Is the Cincinnati QB not worth being talked about either? His numbers are better than Colt's besides completion % and yards I believe.

The difference is relevance. One program is, another is not and hasn't been for a long time. It's not simply a statisitical measure (but if it were, 25 other quarterbacks - including McCoy - have a higher pass efficiency rating than your boy in maroon.

Funny thing is, most UT fans and people in and around Austin think the same thing. I love how the UT haters get all high and mighty, thinking that UT fans are dense enough to believe Colt McCoy should win the Heisman...

Ok, maybe some UT fans are dense enough.

However, Shipley, Earl Thomas, and Lamar Houston are the MVP's of this team to this point in the season.
