TCU's Jerry Hughes wins Hendricks award. Best DE in the Nation. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/news/story?id=4727115
I think now it's between Gerhart and Ingram. Suh and McCoy fall behind. I think Ingram should win it though because of the season that Alabama has had along with his last performance against Florida.
I think I might agree if Alabama had a great offense and he was the biggest component of it. But that offense has been terrible at times. You're basically saying Ingram should get it because Alabama has a top-3 defense. If you put the Alabama defense on Stanford, they go undefeated too - but they do it with a good offense too.
Hmm... you're right. But then if you want to look at it that way... you have to put Colt back into the picture then. There's two reasons why Texas is undefeated and going to the NC. 1/2 of it is Colt McCoy the other half is the Texas defense. Because the Heisman usually goes to the player that is usually playing in that NC game... I think Colt should get it over Gerhart. Sure, his last performance was far from outstanding and he does have a lot of picks during the season, but an undefeated program that has had consistency on both sides... one side because of one man like Colt should get big consideration then. But from the looks of it... it's between Ingram and Gerhart. I think Gerhart might just win it from how the talk is going.
THat was actually what I was thinking last week, best College DT since Sapp. I remember that game pretty vividly though, eventually the pounding by the big Nebraska guys started to wear him down in the second half.
Kellen Moore has nice stats, but come on. The guy is a weak armed midget who specialized in tossing middle screens, FB delayed passes, misdirection, and other gadget-esque plays against the absolute worst defenses in the country. I have no doubt that at least 40 or 50 college QB's in FBS (and probably a number in FCS) could go to Boise and do the exact same thing - probably better as well. Have you ever seen him try to pass downfield? He rarely does, and when he does he tosses up wounded ducks that anybody, other than horrific WAC defenses, would intercept. He is a nice player and executes his task, but he's got less claim to the Heisman trophy than whoever the QB at Texas Tech is in any given season.
Yeah, I think Ingram and Colt are sort of in one category - not the best stats, but undefeated teams. Suh and Gerhart are in the other category - probably the best players, but not on the best teams. I lean towards the latter, but voters tend to probably lean towards the former. StiffArmTrophy.com collects votes and projects winners extremely well, and right now, Ingram looks to be solidly in first, followed by Gerhart and Suh, with Colt in 4th (Tebow in a distant 5th). I think what separates Colt and Ingram is that Ingram had his best games against his ranked opponents, and most importantly against Florida's top-3 defense in the SEC title game. Colt and the offense struggled against the two good defenses he faced - OU and Nebraska. The race was close all year long because none of the preseason favorites (Colt, Bradford, Tebow) stood out early on, so it was a tossup going into the final weeks. The 2nd to last week made it Colt's to lose, but then Colt lost it in the last week.
Ingram will win obviously. Suh is the best player. Gerhart is a white RB, how the **** did that happen? Tebow and Mccoy are only there to compare notes on how to get to 2nd base with their girlfriends without incurring the tears of Jesus.
Standing next to each other, Tebow looks like a giant compared to McCoy. Wikipedia lists Tebow at 6'3 and McCoy as 6'2 No way, either Tebow is taller or McCoy is shorter.
Too bad Mark Ingram Sr. will still be in jail by the time Mark Jr's NFL career starts to hit its final stages.
