If Missouri wins its last two games and plays for the national title, it should be Chase, hands down (and obviously, that's who I voted for). I think that will happen, but I think he'll be a close second to Tebow, because too many voters, as always, will send their ballot in early before all the games are played. Plus, Tebow has had the hype machine all season, whereas ESPN only started it with Chase a couple weeks ago.
It should have been Dennis Dixon and more than likely would've been him if not for the injury I'll have to go with Tim Tebow even though the Gators have 3 losses. His numbers are crazy.
It might be a homer pick, but I've got to vote for Chuck Norris' son, Tim Tebow. His stats are crazy. And if you watch their games, you'll know this guy really is the heart and soul of the team.
That's the one thing I don't understand about this sudden ESPN fascination with Tebow. Dixon's numbers were very good, but they weren't out of this world. What made Dixon worthy of the Heisman, to most folks, was how masterfully he ran that spread offense and how he took an unranked preseason team to the verge of the national championship. Tebow had better numbers than Dixon, but that didn't seem to matter to the media folks because of team success. Now, and especially if Missouri wins its last two games... you can substitute Daniel for Dixon in the above paragraph and it would still be completely accurate. Except now, when it's Daniel vs. Tebow, team success is being overlooked in favor of individual numbers. I see merits to both approaches... and I'm not saying it should necessarily be a team award... I just wish the media would remain consistent in the logic it uses, because it seems to flip from week to week.
It's going to be Tebow in a landslide. A couple of weeks ago, I thought it was going to be one of the tightest races ever, with as many as 5 getting 1st place votes. It could still happen, but once the voters really sit down and look at the numbers, you have to vote for Tebow.
