Phil Knight can do whatever he wants with his money.

Interesting I doubt if Lebron will be as good as Kobe. Only time will tell.

Kobe's "problem" as far as this issue is concerened is that he allegedly does not have "street credibility".

While in LeBron's case it is just what we call STREREOTYPICAL CAPITALISM (just as "negative" as it gets).

Kobe simply does not have the "street cred" to sell a lot of shoes. It's been proven, hence the relatively low-paying contract. It isn't fair, but it's how our capitalist economy works.

Also: LeBron fans, get out of your shells! I know you exist! I mean, there are SO many people that would pick Carmelo ahead of him on this board, there has to be some LeBron supporters. Anyway...why will you b****slap everyone wearing LeBron shoe? I know he's hyped...oh well, but to hate his fans because he's hyped is not cool. Why is it that LeBron fans are constantly flamed yet Carmelo Anthony is always praised even though they have both never played in the NBA?

actually, lost, its a team sport. no matter how you try and spin it, the lakers have TWO superstars, a supporting cast that in my opinion wasnt as good as the 93-94 rockets supporting. hakeem was their only superstar on that team and was amazing. he made everyone on that team better and they played together. where in my post do i pity "poor shaq and kobe"?

you put down the whole rest of the team. "CBA rejects"? theres alot of people who would disagree with you. those "CBA rejects" hit a bunch of clutch shots to get that team those titles. hakeem also played his a$$ off. like i said, its a team sport. hakeem needed them, and they needed him.

there was no complaining about the lakers supporting cast last year, especially after their role player hit the deciding clutch against the kings last season. You can play down dreams' ability all you want, youre making the rockets sound like 80's celts, like anyone coulda won with that team.

The Lakers were made for Shaq just like the Rockets were Dream's team. A better comparison would be Scottie leading the Bulls to 50 victories during MJ's retirement, but that was before the new CBA.

Kobe's situation this season is unique, and if the supporting cast could make an open shot or a free throw like they could 3 years ago, then their win % wouldn't be as horrendous (they wouldn't have flamed out on the Spurs so easily...). I'd reserve judgement for when he does have a team of his own for 3 years. Personally, I doubt he'll win the doubters if he had a winning season of his own. Then it would be how he doesn't have his own ring, etc, etc...
