The Rockets are down a point guard and can use a backup wing who is more of a playmaker than Garcia, mostly a spot up shooter and occasional slasher. Hedo may or may not work out, but a minimum wage contract and Covington's roster spot is a worthwhile investment to find out if he has anything left. BTW, Hedo's agent is Jim Tanner, who also represents Jeremy Lin and future Rocket Thaddeus Young.
Don't look now but Andrew Bynum's streak of good games is done. Now he's back to stinking up the joint and being a statue in the middle. Same style contract...$6 million guarantee. Will be interesting to see if the Cavs drop him. I'm wondering if both Orlando and Cleveland negotiates a buyout of around $7 million for both both Hedo and Bynum, thereby allowing them to hold both guys until the trade deadline for trade purposes. Just something to watch for.
You tell me...what incentive does Hedo have to accept some sort of reduced pay buyout at this point??? He's 34 years old and not in demand. He's owed at least $6 million this season. If they cut him January 7th they still have to give him his $6 million. And since he's on an old contract that is probably 12 payments over 6 months, he will have already been paid $4 million of the $6 million they owe him. He really doesn't have an incentive to stretch payments out and neither does Orlando. So, you tell me, what is there to "negotiate" with Hedo's buyout???
