It was ridiculous how the Spurs shot more fts than Miami in every single game of the Finals.

Can't foul Lebron and Wade when the Spurs were literally playing 8 feet away from them...

Miami shot a very low number of FTs the entire playoffs. Historically low

That's what happens when you flop, the refs are reluctant to call fouls.

Even when Lebron was driving he wasn't getting calls.

If he rigged Lebron and Ray Allen's late three's to send game 6 to overtime... I realllly hope he doesn't retire because that was fun basketball.

Its been pointed out before here by several posters (too lazy to find the threads) -

That there are FAR LESS free throws per game NOW than 20 years ago in the Jordan/Rockets 2-Peat era

Which means referees are NOT blowing whistles for "every single thing". (Refs now blow whistles for TICKY TACK EMOTIONAL OUTBURSTS though. Taking the emotion out the game)

Thats even WITH the flopping. You might can even conclude that cuz LESS whistles are blown now, that defenders are RESORTING to HAVING to FLOP to get the calls. (Though the overseas players seem to have brought that in all their own).

Or, its now that you can zone in on a player and put the double team on them before they even get the ball, its gonna reduce the likelihood of NEEDING to foul to defend them.
    - Meaning, 1 player single-covered on Jordan and Hakeem were more likely to NEED to FOUL them to stop them from scoring.
    - A fronting double team offense on Yao, why would they need to foul him when they've effectively stopped him? And thats gonna leave a wide open shooter without anyone around him who's not gonna get fouled
