I know it's not the same players, but a couple years ago Toronto gave up 55 points to Kobe Bryant. In a half. You rock, Miami.
wow just simpl wow. The toronto defence must be very very suffocating anyways alot of bizzare things have happened in the nba this season. Denver with their 168pts... ROCKETS with the unforgettable 22wins streak and now Miami with 54 points.. I've seen it all now.
They should change the rule. How about the worst record in TWO years to determine who gets the most number of balls. Its hard to tank in two years. That would cost a lot of revenue to the team
Now I like that idea! I would make it 3 instead of 2 years though. You could even apply that thought to the playoff teams. The concept is great! So footworld, you don't think the Heat are tanking. Why is Riley(the head coach) scouting college players instead of on the sidelines coaching NBA games. Then the owner when asked about the situation respond with...you have to have your priorities. Looks like the Heat's priorities are loose the most games to get the #1 pick & know who the best draft pick is. Everyone's down on the Spurs for not playing Robinson the last quarter of the season when they could have. Well that's exactly what the Heat's doing this year with Wade. I think what really makes my blood boil is they are so blantent about it.
Since tanking is so prevalent, I'd say just make those teams that have been eliminated from the playoffs forfeit the rest of their games. Give a refund to the ticket holders. This would have more integrity than asking people to actually pay to watch a product like Miami.
Exactly. Integrity of the game and all that aside, what about season ticket holders? What about those kids in Miami who are watching their team come out there and half-ass it? I know that if the Rockets had ever tanked a season like this back when I was a little kid, I would have been devastated. Players, coaches, and executives are already getting paid millions and millions of dollars to simply put a product on the court that's entertaining to watch, and they can't even provide that? It's disgusting, and David Stern is a hypocritical ass*ole if he doesn't address this in the offseason. He's so worried about the league image, and what the public perception is, yet he's letting teams ruin the spirit of the game by not even competing. Imagine if the Rockets got to play the Heat 2 more times, instead of the freaking Spurs or Jazz or Lakers or something. Garbage, pure and utter garbage.
Has any team ever gone from the best to the worst in such a short-span while still having their best players? They only traded Shaq and shut down Wade after they knew they were the worst team i nthe league.
There was a thread on insidehoops (forum who has about 15 good, knowledgeable posters and thousands of 15 year old r****ds) whether Ricky Davis would ever win a championship as the main man on his team. I think the guy got his answer.
They should redo the T Mobile commercials with Wade adding the top 5 prospective lottery picks as his "5"
The problem with that is, nobody would want to get the eighth seed. The ninth seed becomes more valuable than the eighth seed. It's fine the way it is. Most teams that tank didn't get the first pick anyway. Look at last season. Boston tanked and tried to get Oden. Thanks to Ainge's brilliant thinking, they managed to get Ray Allen and KG, but if it wasn't for that, Boston would've been a complete failure. Like Memphis was and might even be this time around.
You know I don't think they tanking as much as people think, I just think they suck and couldn't win a game if they wanted to.
The management/Riley/Wade may be tanking it, but there's no way the players out there are doing that. They're just THAT bad. There is no way a group of professional ball players, especially those who have the drive to get to the NBA level would let themselves be embarrassed in that manner. They just suck. It's a terrible situation for their fans, but management basically sold their souls for a championship...and they got their first one, so it was probably worth it.
