Why the heck would Battier be interested in Toronto? They are arguably in a worse position than we are.
Lol @ people thinking Battier can have an impact at 33. Throughout his NBA career he has shown that he was always nothing more than an overrated, overpaid, and over-hyped scrub. Well I guess a negative impact is still an impact. All these teams that are supposedly interested in Battier are in for a rude awakening when they see him on the court playing for their team and realize that he sucks.
Can they please give us Chris Bosh for Battier? I mean, Rudy Gay is better than Bosh, right. So seeing Riley is even more of a wizard at dealing-and-wheeling than Morey is, he should JUMP at the opportunity. Battier's an All-Star, dude.

I remember him last year out Kobeing Kobe when we played the Lakers . So he can still have his moments.
hahaha video made by myself. As for Shane of course he can have impact, we saw it last year as he was playing for the Grizz. Give him 20 minutes of the bench and use him at the end when a great player needs to be stopped and he will produce.
I don't see Battier having a strong interest in the Heat unless the Grizzlies lowball him. He's not a ring-chaser. I see him looking for a place that will give him a long deal at a fair rate, where he can contribute, and the lives of his wife and children are not unduly uprooted. As long as the Grizzlies don't insult him with their offer, I think he stays. His fate may depend on what happens with Marc Gasol and how much the Grizzlies will have to jettison to keep him on the roster.
Rings talk man. At this point in his career, the Heat would be his best option. He could come off the bunch and maybe that robert horry type shooter. We all know how clutch he is. And the man can still play defense better than 90% of the league at his age.
How many minutes does Battier expect to play for the Heat?.... The Heat are a veteran graveyard... If you cant shoot or run, you become a high income cheerleader...
Battier's list still includes Miami, San Antonio, Indiana, Toronto, Memphis, Boston and his former Memphis team. Oklahoma City has also had discussions with either Battier or his camp. The team-to-player conversations might matter more with players like these than with so many others, as a clear understanding of roles, goals and -- of course -- financial incentive will come into play. I think that's the normal perspective. When we were about to trade Battier, I was thinking about the contenders he'd like to go to. But, all his comments to the media were that he'd rather not have to move, he'd rather not make his kids change schools and so on. Fortunately for him, he got traded back to a town he lived in a long time. He really is not a ring-chaser, no matter how much we think he should be. I will be shocked if he goes to Miami if Memphis' offer is comparable.
I like this cool act of rebellion to hate on battier - if there was vocal incessant pro-Battier BBS lobby that we'd been subjected to for the last 6-7 years on the BBS maybe it would be somewhat understandable - otherwise he is what he is/was: A decent role player, a good defender, a good teammate whose contributions tended to show up on dvanced, non-traditional box score metrics. That's it.
I'm with ya on this one. And let's not forget there's the possibility that the Heat could amnesty Mike Miller thus opening up the need for a reserve swingman. Do the Heat have greater needs? Yes, at PG and C. Just saying, the idea of Battier of succeeding on this team isn't far-fetched at all, IMO.
