Durant and Oden are starting for lottery teams that don't expect them to carry them to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Of course, he COULD. Daddycool was saying he will. Scola is a talented PF who has alot to learn. Adelman is saying he COULD, not he will.

    The born loser,

Never mind, you are right. Luis Scola is the starting PF. Greg Oden and Durant are bad examples, though. Those guys are the franchise players for their respective teams much like Yao and McGrady is to us. Not to say that Scola can't be our Go-To guy or franchise player. I just didn't know Adelman made him the starting PF. I am sorry.

Scola won't be our go-to guy or a franchise player, which is precisely the reason that he'll start. We don't need him to be a star. All we need is for him to be a guy that can contribute on both ends of the floor.

Hopefully, Scola will work out like Jorge Garjabosa (sp?) did with the Toronto Raptors. Instant, solid contribution as a role player.

If we can't trade Alston + our leftovers for anything, we could probably get a few first round draft picks out of them...this way, we can win now, AND win later :p

Correction is to you the rockets can sign Bonzi after this season to 175% (that is if he's worth it) of his last seasons salary or the average player salary which ever is higher and he last time I checked the MLE is defined to be the average players salary, so 175% of the MLE....

I think you misread the rule. "Early Bird" free agents can be re-signed for the greater of (a) 175% of the player's prior year's salary or (b) the average player salary, or MLE.

Therefore, in Bonzi's case, the Rockets can re-sign him to 175% of his 2007-08 salary of ~$2.4M, which would be about $4.2M; OR they can re-sign him to the average player salary equal to the MLE, which should be about $5.8M next year.

And most likely, it's a moot point. If Daryl Morey got lucky with one in-shape season out of Bonzi, I doube he signs a 30-something player with propensity for injury and weight gain to a long term contract of any significance. The odds of him being worth that kind of deal into his mid 30s are slim and Morey knows it.

Bingo! And that's all we'll get for the aptly put 'one-dimensional' Alston. It just so happens that our only glaring need right now is a one-dimensional PF who can play tough defense and keep Yao out of foul trouble.
If we managed to get that PF, and save a little money in the meantime, I'd be in heaven. :D

Scola will be starting no doubt. I live in sacramento and when ever adleman would speak extensively on a player like he did with scola, you know he will have him on the practice squad with tracy and yao. He already said that scola fits perfect next to yao in what they want to do.Adelman loves those european players and I think Scola's skills remind him of a vlade and peja type vibration.

There are only two players that are plug in to start and that is yao and tracy.Battier might not even start if he can't get with what they want to do offensively and if Bonzi comes in shape already knowing what rick wants to do from playing for him, bonzi might suprise folks and be the starting 2 guard.

Thats Why i wanna see Battier traded for Artest. Shane is limited player. you know what you're gonna get. with Artest he is a superstar who is a piece that can win us a ring. only thing shane has going for him is that can see him playing well under Adelman. he has the tools to be a good player in the motion offense.

Why give up a sure thing for a nutcase? This team doesn't need anymore "go-to" guys. Such a trade would be a very high-risk maneuver that could torpedo the season if it doesn't pan out.

Ya, but we have a coach that tamed him before and probaly can again. sometimes in life you have to take those risks to better you'reself. i feel confidnt Adelman could tame him. if it pays off, we can get our selfs a few rings.

Ron - Ron will be an FA next summer, and then a Kah-nick. Bank (shot) on it.

How about a Bonzi & Artest combo again? With a line up of

    Steve Francis
    Tmac
    Artest
    Scola
    Yao

    That would be killaaaaaaaaaaaa

If we have Artest on the team we have a player who can play on both ends of the floor and one who can play an uptempo game. We already have one slow player, so we dont really have to have Battier on an uptempo roster. playing with players with quality character and Coach A who knows him well. He respects Coach A and would be a true asset for the Rox. :p

Well, chances are that is all you might see for Rafer. I would prefer to see his contract out of here much like Swift's :D

    Here's one that would work...

    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Houston, Denver, and Miami being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Denver, and Miami had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Denver would also get our first-round pick in 2008 and cash. We would get a 2nd round pick from Miami. Denver would cut Quinn and would get the medical exception on Sura. Landry could or could not be included in the trade, depending on whether they would have interest.

Why Denver would do this? They would get a bunch of expirings, a three-point threat they have been looking for for a long time, a first-round pick, but most of all, they would save tons of cash (more than 20 M, I think) in luxury tax and salary.

The fact that the Nuggets recently traded for Allen Iverson displays that they want to win now. If they want to get under the luxury cap I am sure they can find a way to deal Martin. No way they give the DPoY away. They could probably get Bynum or Gerald Green to go along with expiring contracts for Camby if they desired to.

This might be the worst message board trade proposal that I have ever seen.
